The first shotgun I ever shot was my dad's .410 Harrington and Richardson breaktop single shot, the one that would fold in half. Still got it, and it still shoots good!

H&R .12 GA. was the first shotgun I ever fired.  I ended up with a Winchester 1200... a great birthday present for a young boy.  Wish I still had them both.

The first shotgun I shot was my dad's old 870.  I can't remember exactly how old I was but I remember that I couldn't hold it up to my shoulder because it was too heavy.  We were pheasant hunting in one of our fields and I kept bugging him that I wanted to shoot it.  He finally got tired of me and let me give it a try.  Since I couldn't hold it up, I held it down like I had seen people hold machine guns in the movies.  I just aimed a little ahead of us into a hill side.  My dad was laughing pretty hard, but not nearly as hard as when I finally pulled the trigger.  It pushed me back so hard I fell flat on my butt.  That was enough shooting for that day but every time we went out after that I got to shoot it at least once.  Of course I was finally able to hold it to my shoulder and I'm doing much better at hitting my target now.   :)

My Dad's 20 gauge Ithaca Supersingle. I was probably about 5 years old! That was 35 years ago. Wow!

Dad hunted with that gun almost exclusively until he died 3 years ago. I still have it.

Mine was at age 15 Mossberg 500(Wards Westernfield), I just got rid of it! Replaced it with two Browning A5's 12 and 16 Ga ! It was a great gun! I just wore it out! Many Thousands of rounds through it! Got a bad wrist so shucking that pump just wasn't happening! ;D

It was my gradfathers Ted Williams 12 Guage Pump - actually made by Browning.  My Grandfather loaned it to me and when my dad bought me a new 870 Wingmaster I returned it to him in better shape than when he lent it to me.  I shot a lot of cottontail, dove quail, ducks you name it with that old shotgun.  I think my Park Service Ranger Uncle (who has no appreciation of firearms) has it now.  I doubt I will ever see it again if he has not turned it in for some lame gun buyback program.

How were you able to come to the conclusion it's a Browning? Technically Browning isn't a gun maker or manufacturer, they just import guns made by others. To the best of my knowledge they never imported a pump before the current line of BPS guns which I think were well after Sears stopped selling guns and the Ted Williams brand name had died.

I have been operating under the assumption "most" all the older Sears guns were made either by High Standard is is mine or by Mossberg. Can you enlighten us on how you identified it as a Browning and what the model number is?

My first shotgun that I shot and still own is an old 12G s/s  AH Fox Sterlingworth.  I was too young to know what I was shooting.  I couldn't and still can't hit the back side of a barn with it.  I still take it to dove shoots just to get comments and other people's stares.  The doves I hit just die of heart attacks from the noise because I don't shoot it very well.

When I took the forend off of the shotgun to clean up the wood, it was Stamped Browning on the barrel.  It also had a single transfer bar.  I willo look around and see if I can find any history on it.

It was a J.C Higgins Sears model 12 ga. Wasn't to long after that I bought a 410 Mossburg and started Ground Hog hunting.

It was in the 50's I think I was either 7 or 8 years old

Uncle gave me an old single shot 12ga. Don't know the make. I was 13 then and it kicked me so hard I never shot it again. Didn't shoot another till I bought a Browning Auto 5 eight years later.

Topper 12 ga., my Dad's when he was a kid. First shotgun I owned was an Ithaca SuperSingle 20 ga. First one I bought for myself was a Winchester Model 12. Both my Dad and I shoot nothing but M12's for hunting. He owns a few and I make sure I own at least one more than he does!!

Well I can't find any info on the gun.  It makes me wonder if it was some kind of overrun made for Browning that sears picked up?

The first gun I ever shot was a single shot 10 ga with a 3 1/2in shell, that had a plastic stock and fore end. Just thinking about it makes me hurt all over again :o

Ithaca model 37 featherweight deerslayer slug gun20 GA imp cyl.  Couldn't miss a grouse with it.  My new EA Baikal pattern is so far off, I can't hit a bird even at 5 yards.

H&R 20 gage single shot break action with a hammer.....   what fun I had with that gun.... I'm still not in love with a safety on the trigger guard.  The hammer just seemed more natural.

It was either a J. C. Higgins bolt action .410 or a Revelation break open .410.  I was so young, I can't remember which was first.

I was 11, it was my grandpa's Ithica 12 ga featherweitht M37.

My son inherited this gun when he was 11, and has killed deer with it.

I think I will go to the gun room now and re oil it.

My first gun to shoot was a single shot .410 that belonged to my great uncle. Don't know the brand, but it was old then and that was 48 years ago.
