Ruger 10/22 Break-Down Guide Needed
« on: January 01, 2003, 07:34:14 AM »
Anyone know a source for a Ruger 10/22 standard Break-Down Guide for cleaning and repairs?  I have a slide release that's hanging up also (right from the factory).  Can you help me to figure out the problem and fix? TIA.

SAVAGET: Is this your first 10/22? If not, please ignore this if you already know it.

The slide release is MEANT to be released by hand.  It will not release on it's own by pulling the charging handle back.  It is a TWO HANDED affair to begin with.

They designed it with an upside down V to ride on.  You can buy a replacesment stop or simply take and make that upside down V into a TRIANGLE.

There are sights with pics of the mechanism.  I'd try asking at http://www.rimfirecentral.com or http://www.rugerforum.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/rugerforum/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro

Good luck!

Plainsman,

Thanks.  I did know that you have to pull the slide back, then push sortof up and back on the release.  Trouble is, I try and try and when I'm 'bout ready to heave it.....it releases!?????I've got the damn thing in the gunsmith waiting for him to work on it.
