Revolving Cannon #4
« on: September 15, 2012, 10:46:22 AM »
I started on another one.  This one will look like an 1862 Gatling Gun except for 5 barrels instead of 6. It is 75 caliber and the barrel length is 24".   Overall length is 36" so it will fit the box I built 4 years ago for the first one.  Dom

At 75 Caliber you are really close to a 12 gua. slug gun barrel.   :D Looking really good. Will this one have a in line nipple?  ;D Or is this your hammer style again?

PS I saw the nipple "bung" guess I didn't pay enough attention.

Dom, are you going to let us see your latest revolving cannon when we visit a week from now on Monday?  Or, are you going to hide it away like counterman, Ralph Henshaw did, with that piece of delicious pie, just before Deputy Sam Wood (Warren Oates) entered the diner in the ’67  movie,  “In the Heat of the Night”?

We sure would love to see it!   And we promise not to waste a lot of your time like we did back in 2007 when you took a five hour coffee break to answer all of our questions!  As I recall we did catch some grief from the membership for delaying your work schedule.

Tracy,
It will be completed with paint when you show up and I'll have it on my workbench for you and Mike to check out.  I can't wait to see that completed Brooke either or are YOU going to hide it like Mr. Henshaw did?  Also, I have a much easier schedule than 2007 so 5 hours coffee break is ok with me.   By the way, I finished the fab work on the gun and test fired the ignition with blanks today.

I wish I could make a video demo.  I no longer have a place to shoot.  The range I'm a member of adopted a new policy of only allowing legal to hunt with rifles and pistols with no more than 6 rounds at a time in it.  No more cannons or semi autos, etc.  In my search for another range, I found that many other ranges in the area have already adopted or always had similar rules.   :(

Sounds like you should move somewhere else.

That's lousy!

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

The club I shoot at bans full auto even if legal, but semi-auto is fine.  We have a "high power rifle" team & have shooters that shoot National Matches at Camp Perry.

I can understand roots.... mine were in Long Island.... the problem was they got too much bull fertilizer up there for healthy growth........
Sounds like you have a place not too far from you from what DD is saying.....
