S & W 27-2 5"

I have found two #'s.  I know the gun was purchased in 1976.  One is 334xxx (by the 27-2 stamp).  The other is 87xxx.  which is the serial #?

The serial number is located on the bottom of the grip frame, usually hidden by the target / combat stocks.
