Mitt like the rest of the 1%ers, pays more taxes than all of us put together.  He also pays more into charity than the all of us put together.  He doesn't get anymore benefit than the rest of us though.

47% not paying taxes? That sounds like the pot calling the Kettle black. I wonder why ol Mitt had most of his money in off shore accounts? :o
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
   Like it or not, that's the way the law is set up and maintained ..by both Republican and Democrat congresses.
Best thing to do is eliminate ALL loopholes and special deductions beyond one residence, dependents and proven charities..then institute a flat tax of 10% for EVERYBODY.
  That will be an automatically graduated tax and business/jobs would boom..

Yep seems John Kerry availed himself of some loopholes as well, as I'm sure all do.

Who says it's American to want to pay all those taxes? I would suggest otherwise. People fought a war over trying to not pay them, now that is American.  Anything you can do to keep this corrupt government from getting your money and using it to grow their corruption is all good with me and the truth is anyone out there says they try to pay more taxes on purpose, is a liar. Anyone with any brains try to pay the least amount, including those left wing nuts who always try to make you feel bad about being American, they pay the least amount of anyone and get the most out of entitlements. Why do you think they vote for socialists for in the first place? They vote for left wingers so YOU pay more taxes, they want that money for themselves. For crying out loud over 30 percent of the people RECEIVE money they never paid in, they make a PROFIT on a tax form. Who do you think these people will vote for...someone who wants turn that off?  Receiving money from big government creates a voting block you won't be able to turn off.  The government buying people their groceries and paying their rent creates another huge voting block. I doubt we will be able to out vote those folks, they keep growing as fast as the government does. It's designed that way. You just have to wait it out until they crash themselves and burn their own cities down to the ground, personally, I look forward to that, they all deserve it.

I heard Romney's comments in total. I don't think he 'insulted' anyone. In short, he said there's a big chunk of the electorate that he's not going to be able to get, and he's not going to spend time chasing votes the won't get.

all the talk about insult is just whining and politicking. Not to diff here than when someone gets upset and claims personal insult, when they didn't like something someone wrote... it's an effort to get votes push-start a bandwagon
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Long ago it was determined in federal court that a citizen could conduct his business in a way to minimise his tax debt. I would suggest that's why .
.
Does that 'federal court determination' include the 47% that don't pay taxes that Romney the Banker was whining about?
..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
. YT3   ....re: Post#38....   I didn't get that, I got that Mitt showed real disdain for the underclass (and racial-sex bias' as well) and is saying he ain't going to represent them,,,just write them off as a loss. If you scroll backwards in this thread Mr. two-blocked gave facts , (yes, facts!) stating that Mitt is actually writing off a large % of his constituency.  In real elections, every vote counts---doesn't it?
.
.
...TM7
It would include all American tax payers. Only an idoit would conduct his business in a way that would cause him to pay more taxes.
OK shootall,,,,just making sure it included that 47% that minimize/avoid taxes. But of course, there's an 'idiot' sector that feel paying fair taxes is a fortunate burden necessary to support their country.
.
Fair taxes are no problem and nessary. You say avoid taxes ( I assume we are talking legal methords here ) like it is a bad thing . Why is that ?
Sorry if I offended anyone. I just have a problem with a presidential candidate that just cleans up his tax record for the last two years when the norm is to give at least the last ten. When are men and women are overseas fighting two wars and their is a global jihad against us that's not the type of filthy rich bastard I want for president.
 I get that....some people say Mitt the Banker payed the taxes of 411 average citizens, but forget he had the incomes of 4011 Americans.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Shootall, just because something is legal doesn't make it right or fair,Really it does with regard to tax ,,and this is true the higher you go up the ladderno either we are free or not . The 47% underclass that Mitt disdains didn't break simple tax laws, but on Mitt's level they couldn't even begin to access any of the breaks and loopholes his army of accountants could your point ? if they don't have the assets they have no need for the profesonal help now do they ? .I would add , what you and many others leave out Mitt and most who find ways to lessen tax burden do so by investment that create jobs , donations that help the needy , contributions that help many cities , colleges , foundations etc all benifiting large sectors of the population and churches etc. Why is it that many who either thru lack of brain power or just being lazy pick on those who achieve ?

To me a fair tax would be everyone pays the same amount no matter how much they make. Say 1000 dollars a year for everyone over 18. No reason to punish the successful.

And what do you propose to do with those who don't have a 1000 bucks to pay? Sell them to get the money?

He's a bought and paid for turncoat politician.  Why do you want him to win the election?
Study after study has shown how dangerous distracted driving is yet people continue to talk on their cell phones while driving. Driving in the U.S. requires your full attention. Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

   Nobody disputes paying "fair taxes"....I do have a problem with 2.5 trillion per year taken from half the people and where it REALLY goes, we all know corruption runs deep. I also have a problem with our corrupt government creating voting blocks using tax codes...you won't be able to out vote people receiving money from the government.    I say nobody should pay anything until government is cleaned up...and cutting them off from our money is the fastest way to clean em up.  As of now, I'm paying taxes for all the corruption going on here and in other countries, and to top that off I'm paying for Obama's campaign to boot.  That makes me as an American want to turn the faucet completly off until they all die on the vine.  Can you blame me?  I think that is American as it gets.  I am beyond challenging our government, I am at the point of wanting to fight them any way I can from any angle I can.  I am also to the point where I realize sooner or later socialists in the inner cities will begin to kill each other off.  Cruel as this sounds, I look forward to that as well, that is the only way to slim down the huge voting block our corrupt government has created.    Might as well just start saying it like it is, I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Ok then how about a hundred bucks a year. The lower the better. And to tell ya the truth if you can't earn enough to pay a menial tax per year your only value is what your carcass is worth as fertilizer.

    How does one "clean up" their 1040 tax form when there are copies available from the IRS?  Two years returns are required, why give the 'crap diggers' who work for Obama any more flower beds to dig in?
   When our men & women are fighting a "global jihad", probably the last one we should have in the oval office is a muslim  or a muslim sympathizer..
    Beyond your obvious envy of the financially successful, Romney is not a cheapskate..since he gives nearly 20% of his income to charity.
    Why give to charity rather than to government? ...For the same reason I put gasoline in a working tractor..rather than to throw the gasoline on a fire!  My investment will get something worthwhile accomplished, rather than just burned up in a flash!
  The federal government has few obligations constitutionally..and supporting crackheads or those who never plan on earning their own keep, are not some of them.  Neither is using tax payers money to buy out a corporation..and give it to the union, another duty.  Nor is reducing our military to pre WW1 levels...and changing NASA to a "muslim self-esteem group" a federal obligation.
    Now, why do you refer to Romney as a "bastard"?
    1)..People with the JCLDS are very cognizant of proper, recorded, genealogy..it is part of their faith.

        on the other hand consider the odds...

   So busy she had to leave her very young son with his grandparents for long periods.  I guess any kid could build a lot of bitterness under those conditions...   http://astuteblogger.blogspot.com/2008/09/obamas-real-father-connecting-dots.html

He's a bought and paid for turncoat politician.  Why do you want him to win the election?

Because the LIAR that's in there now seems hell bent on bringing this country to it's knees, financially wise.
He is not interested in seeing this country or it's people getting back to prosperity on there own.
He, and the government want us all dependent on them so they can call the shots and controll us the way the ones pulling their string want.

To me there is only three fair ways to fix the tax code.
Either a national sales tax where everyone pays as they buy, no matter what it is from candy to cars to whatever.
A flat rate tax for everyone, reguardless.
Or you have a three rate plan.
Those under say 50,000 pay no tax.
Those from 50,000 to 500,000 pay 15%
and above 500,000 pays 25%.

I am in favor of the flat rate.
Why should I have to pay a higher percent than the next person just because I made more money then they did.
Maybe I was a better business person or worked harder or worked more then they did.
I am sick of the old saying that the rich don't pay their fair share.
The top 1% pays way more then they should ever have to.
You make a dollar, then you pay a flat rate on that dollar.
I make a million dollars then I pay the same percentage on a miooion dollars.
It's fair to everyone.
You could still have a base and below that would pay no taxes.
Just have to figure what that base would be.

Have a doctors app so I have to go.
May finish this latter!

Good post LT. The Kenyan in office, raises the debt by over a 1/3 in just alittle over 3 years, from 10 trillion to what is over 16 trillion. Which will raise tax's tremendlessly for everyone. When the trucking company's have to pay the extra on the fuel and licensing fee's, farmers have to pay more for fuel, and food price's go thru ther roof, who's going to get hurt the worse. The rich will be able to afford $2-$3 a can for corn or peas. Romney comes out and makes a true statement, and it offends some people. Some are just like the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz. They just don't have brain. How close are we to the tipping point? If the true figure is 49%,  don't pay, how long before the other 51% say to hell with it. It will not be long now. gypsyman
