I will have to go in tomorrow for emergency surgery on my spine...blown disk.  I'll be out of pocket for a few days, so Atlaw will have to take over making silly comments for me.

I'll be fine fella's thanks for the good wish's.  BB the 12 guage didn't do it.  42 years as a mechanic did....  Check in tomorrow, probably home Sat. then a 6 week vacation....

Geeeze Ben!  That's gotta hurt!   :(  But remember, I'm only a couple a hours away if you need anything!  And it's all expressway so I'll get pretty good mileage... My doctor thought I had a serious situation, the neurosurgeon was not concerned.  Gotta' go back Wednesday for a "nerve conduction study".
 
Probably several more tests to milk the insurance, then they will fix it.

Good luck and keep us posted on the recovery. I have 3 herniated discs from 33yrs of pulling a chemical tanker. I've been putting it of for 2yrs now, heavily medicated, and getting tired of it..

Finally got my surgery scheduled for Oct. 5th.  Talking with the Doc, I will have to stop using my heavy recoiling guns.  Guess I'll have to do a little horse trading.
 
Our gun season opens Oct. 16th, and I will be in a collar until Nov., so I'll miss quite a bit.  After that I may hunt with the 223 the rest of the season.
 
I for sure am keeping my 45-70, as I can load it down.  I hate to part with any of my girls, but I may have to.

I have a good friend that left allot of himself in the jungles of vietnam... He too is unable to withstand much recoil. Hw uses a 6x47 with 85g partitions. He has killed some fine deer over the last thirty years...

Glad ya finally got the ball rolling Ben, hopefully you'll be all healed up and ready for next year if you miss this year, I've skipped a couple seasons for medical reasons, just makes ya enjoy the next even more!  ;) When I was 50, I had a radical prostectomy on Oct 15th,  then went elk huntin the last week of November and packed out an elk my best friend shot.  ;D
