Photos of 40MM Scale Whitworth Build
« on: September 20, 2012, 11:38:39 AM »
FINALLY !
The barrel was demilled about 18" from the breech end, giving me a lot of stock to work with.
the scale will be .603:1, based on the largest diameter of the barrel we had to work with. I dimensioned a real Whitworth at Gettysburg about two years ago, and refined the prints that are floating around out there.
Any advice?
I especially like the shot of the Bofors Barrel coming out of the spindle of the lathe.....it made people look twice!

Nice pics and thanks for sharing. yeah I would definitely take a second look if I ever saw a 40mm bbl sticking out through the outboard end of a lathe. Frank

Looks like you have plenty of thickness left after threading for the breech cap . If you didn't know yet the front swell and threads just clean up if you follow the barrel taper, then you can bondo the bolt divots.   Very nice ! Good length.
