how to pt a sling mount in a plastic stock?
« on: September 20, 2012, 04:44:15 PM »
I have youth sized synthetic stock that needs a sling mount. I have two "screw" style sling mounts that i could use. Both are the same one is just longer than the other. is the stock meteral thick enough that i can just drill a hole and screw in the self tapping screw like i would wood? Or do i need to do something different? Also where do you tend to mount the rear sling mount? how close  to the end of the stock?

the ones iv'e dealt with already had
a mounting "boss" moulded in the
stock with extra material in place.

if yours does not , i would think
a small gob of accraglas inside
would do the trick and hold
forever + 1 day
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Agreed, Use the short one up front IN THE CORRECT POSITION. Thats where the "boss" is molded in as you mention.

In the butt, use the longer one, a couple inches form the toe.

The plastic stock on my Tikka has the boss and uses a bolt and locknut up front. Hard telling about the rear, I've never looked down in there.
