Marlin Camp 9 trigger questions
« on: September 23, 2012, 06:39:00 AM »

(I have also posted this in Gunsmithing)

I stripped my Camp 9 to clean it and did not take apart the trigger group.

During re-assembly, I found that the trigger group wasn't working right. I put a magazine in, and it still didn't work right: when pushing the hammer back, it wasn't engaged by the trigger. The trigger will only moves a couple millimeters, as though something is not right.

As I poked around, the main spring and guide came out.

Obviously, I'd like to know what's going on and how to fix it. In addition, the trigger pull is too heavy and I would like to reduce it, but I've seen mention that reducing the main spring is not a good idea.

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks

Go to the "Marlin Owners" site.  There are several "how to" articles about Camp 9 - 45 and an excellent article by "Mush" on the triggers of the Camps.

I brought my 45 back to Marlin twice. Both times for FTF problems associated with the mag safety. The third time it happened, I fixed it myself. while appart I smoothed and lightened mine some time back... Cannot remember for sure but I remember it being more complicated it needed to be.

Mine works fine now. There are not gas guns they are recoil operated and the trigger is susseptable to multiple shots when held loosely. I have a friend with one hand and a "hook" for his other. When he shoots thee guns he empties the mag as if they are full auto. NOTHING WRONG WITH THE GUN!!! The "hook" and loosely holding the gun allows recoil to Nicky the firearm just enough to retire and refire and refire. Till empty.
He worked at Marlin and actually stopped release of this gun for a couple weeks while the engineers tried to re produce the effect. Quite humerious actually!!

What I ended up doing as much as I dislike disabling any safety, was to remove the mag disconnect. Now she runs perfectly!

Thanks for the links to mush triggers. I'll check that out too!!
