Man's failing heart heals itself before transplant  Published September 24, 2012
FoxNews.com       Michael Crowe, a 23-year-old from Omaha, Neb., was in desperate need of a heart transplant when the incredible happened: His heart healed itself, the Omaha World-Herald reported.
Crowe first began feeling ill August 13, suffering from vomiting and chills.  His doctor ruled out a bacterial infection and diagnosed him with a bad case of stomach flu.

A day later, his mother Margie Crowe found him stiff on the couch, momentarily frozen and unresponsive.  She rushed him to nearby Lakeside Hospital, where doctors ran tests on his heart and recommended Crowe be transferred to Nebraska Medical Center.

There, doctors diagnosed Crowe with acute myocarditis, or inflammation of the heart muscle, a rare condition that was probably caused by a viral infection, the World-Herald reported.  His heart was only functioning at 10 percent efficiency and with sluggish blood flow, his other organs were beginning to fail.  Doctors hooked Crowe up to a machine that worked for his heart and lungs, while filtering his blood – but he ultimately needed a heart transplant.
After days of waiting and life-threatening complications, a match for Crowe became available on September 3.  But one more complication devastated Crowe’s family – he had blood poisoning, and it was too risky to perform a heart transplant.

An hour later, Dr. Eugenia Raichlin, a heart failure and transplant physician, noticed something else.  Crowe’s blood pressure was up, something that would be impossible if he was relying solely on the heart-lung machine, which keeps blood pressure steady.

An ultrasound revealed that the left chamber of Crowe’s heart was working normally again.  The doctors canceled the transplant, believing Crowe’s heart would mend itself as they switched him to a machine that only assisted the right side of the heart.  Four days later, Crowe’s heart worked without the aid of any machine.  Furthermore, a later MRI found no permanent damage or scars.
“We think this is a miracle,” Raichlin told the World-Herald.
Crowe returned home last Thursday.  He must take medications and follow a low-sodium diet.

Why is it that every time something good happens, God is given the credit and whenever something bad happens, God isn't blamed?
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

FAITH
And knowing GOD loves us.
GOD sometimes "lets" things happen for only reasons HE knows.

By Golly--God is still alive.
HUMMMMMM--I read somewhere that He died.
God still heals--something that most mailine denominations refuse to believe---saying that miracles passed with the Apostles. They stand in the  pulpits and make fun of those who still believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They chide those that do. They wonder why the Holy Spirit does not do what He wishes--and they quinch Him and shun Him as though to trust Him would be showing allegiance to satan.
YET---thru the history of the church, there are those that have obeyed the Spirit and have worked miracles in the name of Christ.
This will probably get this moved to the Religous Discussion threads---but it is worth it for it needs to be read and understood.
Blessings

The rain falls on the just and unjust.
Believers like to thank God for everything but as you guessed it's not always easy to when you are sick or troubled. Sometimes we catch a huge dose of life but we know God will see us through.

I'm with Val on this. Something like this occurs and God gets the credit for making it happen. Someone else withers and dies a horrible death from cancer or some other cause and it's because HE works in mysterious ways and it was His will.

  • Oh father of the four winds, fill my sails!
If I credit God for the apparently miraculous healing of this fellow's heart... what do I do with my friend's 10 y/o niece, who had her leg removed a couple months ago, who has been cancer fight for a couple years, and who just found that it's in both lungs and her chances are about zero? I don't like it at all.
My GF - who has a doctorate in genetics - says it's not a case of right wrong good bad with cancer - it's just trying to stay alive, too, and it's smart.
I don't know where God's preferences are here, or if He has them... and if He has them, if He acts on them. I don't know. I used to know, but don't know now.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

In a perfect world there would be no sickness or disease. That much we would all agree upon.
However we live in a fractured world becuase man chose to sin and break that perfect creation.
What great sin did the little girl commit? Nothing we know of and mostly likely nothing. Is it terrible and tragic, yes of course it is. So why did she get sick? The answer God works in mysterious ways sure does sound like an answer of convience and most of the time it is a tough pill to swallow.  ( Yes I have lost family members to cancer) So what is the answer, did God desire to people to die of horrible cruel disease through great suffering? No He doesn't. When mankind disobeyed and sinned, all this was brought into the world. God's desire was we lived with Him in His perfect creation. However mankind chose not to. The first man Adam sinned and broke the creation, just as Jesus sacrificed Himself for us to have that relationship with God again.  Our physical bodies are nothing more than a bucket holding the good stuff that will rise to be with Father God on our appointed day.

Does life suck? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Do we understand everything God does? No becuase He said your thoughts are not My thoughts. We have such a little understanding of things, this little amount of time we spend on earth is but a fraction of what things really are.

I don't know what God's plan is either, I was told last year by my doctor I should be getting my affairs in order and that was a tough day and a difficult pill to swallow. I told my doctor God hasn't said it's over yet. I don't know when my appointed day is and I would like it to be at least 50 years from now. I don't like the idea of checking out  what I consider early either. God does have a plan for me, that much I do know. If I go on for another 50 years great if I go tommorrow well I will at least know something you all don't.

SHU. Great post Sir. Non believers will always try and ridicule and discredit God as has been shown here. We buried Mom on the 17th last month. I'm not bitter even though I miss her terribly.
I praise God every day for the xtra 4 years he gave us with her after the dr said she'd never see Christmas in 2008. POWDERMAN.  :( :(

Well now----God does work in ways above our understanding.
God know every sparrow that falls from the sky--men are no different. God has told us that there is nothing to this life but sorrow---we want a utopia. The utopia is coming, but, not in this world.
Since god created us---each and every one---why do you kick at the pricks because He is in control? There is a reason for everything which happens and bad things do happen to good people--vice versa, also. Since we are not told why do we hold God up to human reasoning?
Blessings

I never knew. There were years in my life I believed and didn't care whether I thought I know or not.

now, being human, I'm inclined to think that if I give credit I am also going to abstain or criticise.
