Springfield XDM 5.25 first range report.
« on: September 24, 2012, 09:58:08 AM »
Matt came down yesterday wanting to shoot his new AR. It was jamming at each shot until I suggested he lube it liberally. He also took my Remington R15 up and shot it.

He also took both of Wyatt's rifles up so all three boys could shoot.

My back was hurting so badly I could barely walk down the hall so me shooting was not an option. So I handed the XDM and my Sig 228 to him along with a box of ammo for each and told him to bring me some targets to look at.

I am not positive but I believe he was shooting at around 15 yards free hand. He came down after shooting a group or two with the XDM and gushing all kinds of superlatives about it. He said he had fallen in love with it already.

Understand that Matt doesn't have nearly my handgun experience and hasn't been doing much handgun shooting in several years tho he will take one up and shoot from time to time so long as I'm furnishing the ammo. Until I get out with it I'm not sure what the accuracy potential is.

But I have five shot group he shot that measures 1.6" and one measuring an even 2". I dunno what he did with the other 15 rounds he fired. He only brought me one group from the Sig and it was rather disappointing. But that's the first time it's been fired since coming home with me and maybe it just didn't like the ammo.

The XDM was fired with MagTech 230 grain FMJ ammo and the Sign with CCI Blazer aluminum cased 115 FMJ.

That's it for the initial report. Hopefully my back will let me get out some this week to shoot. Seems like the only kinda days I have anymore are bad or worse.

The XDM is close to the best semiauto out there.  Maybe the best.  My brother just got ond this week.  Off the bench at 25 yards, it's proven to me plenty accurate.  Don't know the groups size, but he said it's small than any of his Glocks and Sigs.  Great sights and competition ready.  It might  not be what we would want to carry everyday, but I can see it's value in that roll.  Congrats on obtaining it.

Sorry that your back is giving you such grief.  Hope you are feeling better!

Sounds like the XDM is going to be a real nice addition! Congrats!
