I have spent about every weekend hunting or fishing for more than a  year.  Texoma, South Canadian river and the deer woods keep me busy.   Just seems no one wants to share any stories. During the hottest part of the year I got in on stripers, catfish and squirrels. Now I'm chasing deer and hogs every chance I get.

If your not hunting this weekend for deer your missing out. Grunt calls, rattling and travel routes are good for our little sex crazed bucks . I rattled in a big 8 Sunday and it's only going to get better ;D

I too am a bit perplexed at the lack of activity exhibited by the Okies one this board. Like most other Okies I've been hunting whitetail (with decent success pics will follow) so I haven't had as much time for the forums as usual. Maybe that's the case. All the Okies are Deer hunting and in the woods.

Opening weekend of rifle season   rattled in a 143 lb 9 point. Shot at 15 yards. Have passed on atleast 10 other bucks this year.  Rattled in my dad a 6point sunday morning along with 2 others that that were out of range when dad shot.

Here in SE Oklahoma the deer and hog population has seemed to explode in my region.  30 years ago one had to go to remote areas to find either one.  This deer season, my son and his friends are hunting on my 1/4 Section within a quarter mile of my house.

They had there stands picked out for opening day, but my son's brother-in-law met up with my bull in the pasture at dawn, and my bull felt intimidated, so the lad made a 90* turn, and walked right up on a 4, and an 8 point buck.  He got on his all fours and crawled up to an old log, and he took the nice 8 point with his 30-06 through the front chest and exited with a big hole behind the left shoulder.  It still traveled about 30 yards before dropping.  There were 2 more bucks sighted that morning.
Enjoy your rights to keep and bear arms.

I'm usually pretty talkative but have been deployed most of this year. I look forward to seeking out some hogs or coyotes when I get back early next year.

Thanks, Dinny

Thank you. I've got just about 30 days left. I know where I can get in on some coyotes, the hogs will be tough to find though.

Thanks, Dinny

I'm not as mad at the deer anymore. We started chasing ducks and squirrells. Trout season is going and we are gearing up for it but usually wait till after New Years for that but there is no rule we have to follow if the mood hits us.

I agree with that.  On Thursday I had a wild hair to go doe hunting instead of duck.  Glad I did as I filled the freezer.  My first deer ever taken with snow on the ground.  It is amazing at how much easier you can see them in those conditions.

Here is a picture of her.  Not much for some, but it is mine.

When its in white butcher paper they are all trophies. We have been been drivin a riverbed locating concentrations of ducks then throwing out the dekes in the pools with a lot of success on widgeon, teal and mallards.Gonna be hard to slow down at the end of the month. I don't hunt geese so it dries up real fast except for trout fishing and blue cats.
