I cannot find load data for the 444 Marlin for the contender. I have a bunch of factory Remington 444 Marlin rounds, I know there are a lot of people that shoot 45-70 factory loads in there contenders. Will the contender frame handle the factory 444 Marlin rounds? Also will the contender handle reloads for an extended time that are not hot loaded? Anyone shooting a contender in 444 Marlin or 45-70 could you please give me some feed back. I just do not have experience with these rounds in a contender.

I had one years back and shot factory equivilent reloads in it.
In my feeble mind I find it inconceiveable that someone like JD Jones would chamber for it if he thought factory loads were too much.

Just my thought on the subject since he is pretty choosey on what he thinks is safe in a Contender and an Encore. What do you think?

I load and shoot the .45-70 Contender.

.444 Contender barrels are proofed and designed for SAAMI pressures, and YES, they will safely fire all factory ammunition in that caliber.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I should of know it would have been OK. I did not think of the JD Jones rounds.
