Anybody ever heard of a 6mmx204 Ruger? Mine is getting badly washed out and thought it would be good candidate for a 6x47 but I think the 204 is larger in the shoulder, I would simply have my little Ruger mk 3 rebored to .243  8 twist w/no case changes. Thanks-Muddy

The 6 x 47 has been around longer than the 204. Both rounds are bases on the 222 Rem. mag. case. I`m not a fan of haveing a barrel rebored. I have set them back and had them rechambered to the same round and larger cases. When I want a different bore I rebarrel the action.

Quick likes Handi rebores from his favorite smith, has to be two calibers larger at the minimum, so you have that covered.

Sorry about the 5mm/204 heading, fat fingered. I have had 3 rebored in the past, a ruger #3 220 Swift to 6mm Swift, an 8x57 to 9x57 and a 338-06 to 375-06 Ackley Imp. All shoot very well and were done by Delta Gun Shop/Clearwater reboring. As far as being accurate all will shoot sub MOA and are not at all picky as to loads. As far as rebarreling goes it is the difference between about $250 and about $600 for a new bbl. chambered and fitted. The shop does A LOT of reboring and is currently setting up to make bbl's from scratch. Also I found an article in the last Handloader about the 6x45 and 6x47 and it mentions the 25 Kimber which is about exactly what a 6x204 would be only bigger dia bullets. It indicated 2750 fps w/100gr bullets and 3200 fps w/75 grainers, but that sounds a little high in that small of a case Muddy

I have a .25 cal on the 211 Fireball case, and if I rembar right I was getting about 2,750 with a 75 gr. bullet. That is not max load, but it shot good so I didn`t load it on up to find out what max. velocity is.

I shoot a 22-204, 6mm-204 and a 25-204 all three a great little cartridges, and easy to make,  The 6 is my favorite coyote rig on large northern coyotes with 55gr bullets running 3700fps out of as 24" barrel.  The 25 has been discussed here in the past.
