(PICS) My New Henry 22L.R.
« on: September 27, 2012, 04:09:43 AM »
I did a lot of debating  between the 357Mag. and a 22L.R. I decided for now to get the 22L.R. and later pick up a 357Mag.

Pictured with my Blackhawk 357Mag.

Looks great!  I have been contimplating a 22M golden boy. They do not have the "cheap" feel of the std model rim fires. The brass frame and walnut looks sharp!!

How do it shoot???

I had surgery on my right arm and can't find out until I'm healed! :(   But as soon as I can I will be going to the range. I don't care for the rear sight and thinking about a Skinner!

Well, I went the other way. Picked up a Henry Big Boy in .357 mag to go with my .357 Blackhawk at the Dallas Gun Show last weekend, and .22LR is next on my list.
Blackhawks and Henrys just look great together, don't they? Congrats and happy shooting!!!

Shot the Henry today. Trigger is good, function was very good, lever cycles very smooth and easy. Accuracy for my tired olds eyes was very good. Even with the elevator  removed from under the rear sight it still shot 1" high at 40 yards. Next time out I,ll take a file.  I do not like the factory sights!!!!

Don't file it; replace it.
Mine shot high with the elevator all the way down.
I think mine came with a Marbles 45W front sight with 3/32 bead; replaced it with a Marbles 53W with 1/16 bead from Brownells.
I have figured out which step to set the elevator for different ammo at different ranges.
My eyes aren't great, but I can hit the gong at 100.
Std LRs go 1st step at 25, 2nd step at 50, 3rd step at 100.
Quiet short go with the top step of the elevator at 100.
Fun to play with.  Very high Chuck Connors factor.
