Last year there were hardly any persimmons or acorns, what hickory nuts and walnuts there were were dried up inside. The winter was very mild. My neighbor told me last year that the winter would be mild, it was. I said how do you know?? She said, God feeds the critters don't he"" I said yes, of course he does. She says, well there ya have it, if it was going to be a hard winter don't ya reckon he'd a made more food for them to eat??
If the reverse is true then we might have a rough winter this year. Haven't chkd the hickories yet but the walnut trees are loaded as are the oaks, some persimmon tree limbs are almost dragging the ground they are so heavy with fruit, I don't ever remember seeing such a huge crop of persimmons. The seeds have a spoon in them indicating lots of snow but that doesn't mean much cause thats what it has had several years now. We'll see. POWDERMAN.
