Welcome aboard, Mauser M67; and thanks for posting the vids.

I don't know for sure if this blessing ritual is pre or post firing (I would guess that it preceded the act), but I don't think that it's something anyone should emulate. It would be a much safer custom to practice if they switched to holy water, but probably nowhere near as enjoyable.

Agreed! Alcohol and cannons don't mix....... Maybe with the age of the gun they need to drink to summon enough courage to fire the over charged piece....... I do note that the Norweagin touching it off exclaims the only english word .... YES! 
If this is a blank being fired can anyone hazzard a guess on how much powder it takes to move that beast?..... Especially seeing that it is on skids... no wheels......

If you go to Youtube it looks like they used 5.5 lb powder with 4.4 lb flower for a wad , that's a lot of powder. If you translate the first part it says they used 1/6 x 10 kg or about 1.6 lb of powder .     :o

A minor quibble but that would be about 1.6 kg of powder (about 3.5 lbs.)
