Need help identifing a H&R
« on: October 02, 2012, 12:14:43 AM »
Hi Guys i'm new to the fourms and had a question about a gun i just got from my grandpa. It is a top break style that has 7 shots. The only markings on the gun are on the top of the barrel it says Harrington & Richardson Arms Co then right below that it say Worcester,Mass,USA. The only other marking is on the left side of the barrel where it says 22 Rim Fire. And on the bottom the serial number is 337XXX.Any info you guys could give me about the gun would be great.

Should be able to shoot Aguila Super Colibri's if nothing else.  There's no powder in them and it's just the pop of the priming compound that pushes the tiny bullet out.  Good for short range target shooting.  ;)

I'm not exactly sure which model that is, but you should be safe with standard velocity 22's.   Do NOT use "Hi-Velocity", "Hi-Speed", or any of the hyper-velocity 22 ammo's(Stinger, Mini-Mag, etc, etc).

Much of today's .22LR is "Hi-Velocity" or with a similar moniker, so you'll need to look for stuff that isn't.

Blackpowder, 40gr or less bullet weight sub-sonic, and CB's are the safest ammo's to use until someone can verify the model and year of production.

I can't tell for sure from the picture, but it looks more like a 22 short.
I've got a first model in 32 s&w and those guns are tiny.
