THIS SEEMS TO BE AS GOOD A SPOT AS ANY
« on: October 02, 2012, 03:56:16 AM »
I am not lazy but I just don't seem to do things until I am in the right mood.
Bout 6 months ago---give or take a year---I shot a sqib load in my M586---luckily (not due to my feeble mind working as it should---otherwise I would not have had a squib load) I didn't pull the trigger on another round.
Anywho---I knew what to do---I just could not get in the mood to do it  :o ??? . I kept putting it off for another day.
Now, I could say I had a revelation that someone might get around to shooting it if I was gone---that would be true--but--I had no such revelation. I just could not get off my butt.
Anywho---one day last week I sprange into action. In reality, I haven't sprung in a long time.
I had the dowel and the oil---no other excuse offered is the bottom line.
I put the gun, barrel down, in the vice--filled the cavity between the squib and the forceing cone (beginning of the barrel) with some oil and wandered over to my chair on the back porch with a cup of coffee and a cig and sat down. Had myownself a little walk and talk with the Lord--smoked the cig and drank the coffee and wandered back out to the shed----which I built with my own two hands (and my sons thumbnail) and my homemade square and level (should tell you something about my carpentry skills)--I digress---Turned the gun upside down and drove the squib back into the cylinder-----took all of 5/6 blows with the hammer to do this---and put up all the tools and called it a day for chores.
I am not lazy----but I sure am lazy about some things.
That is all there is to this little post!
Blessings   :)

Know that "mood" very well.   One of my greatest pleasures in life now days is having become an expert at procrastination.    Doesn't matter what it is, how pressing or how important.  I do things when I want to do them, or not at all, ever.   A reward of having no place I have to go, nothing that ever has to be done "right now", nobody that relies on me for anything, nothing that I really care a ratz azz about when push comes to shove.  Lazy?  Certainly, just as lazy as I want to be.   Reclusive?   Same answer.  Do I care what others think about it?   Not at all, it's my life, not theirs.   I'm happy enough with it as is, have no desire to change it.    ;)

I learned way back in the military it is far more fun to do nothing if you have something to do that if you don't.  I hope you kept some chore in the bank not to do now that you pulled the squib.

I am danged if I do or if I don't. If I do everthing my wife wants, when she wants it done then she finds more for me to do so--therefore i don't do everything she wants, when she wants it done so she WILL NOT be looking for things for me to do---and dang it all when I don't have anything I need to do, I just go out and do something so that I will have something to do.
i am working on a golf equipment thought right now----that'll keep me occupied for awhile.

I remember my father waiting to build things my mother wanted until he was sure she really wanted and would use them.  Whem first married I rushed into doing things that were never appreciated or used.  Now I am in less of a rush...

What you need to do...is get in that fine Mustang automobile...bring Honey Do herself along if you like, and drive to my house in Ga.   I'll be off work for the next 6 weeks.  I have plenty of coffee and snacks.  We can sit on my patio in this fine fall weather, and with a tablet and pencil outline all the things we don't plan to do.

Meanwhile your Honey Do, and my Honey Do can spend all our money, keeping  them something to do so they can't find us something to do....

Now---Mechanic----that is a dang fined suggestion.
I hope that is a honest invite because some of these boys will tell you that I can show up bout anytime if asked.
I will---honestly---talk to the Hen and see what she has to say about it. The onliest problem is she still has children to raise---her grandkids---and I don't know if she trust her children to do the job properly.
I try to stay out of the middle---if she is busy with them, then, by default, she can't be busy with me.
As they say in Aggieland---"WHOOP." Don't worry about it folks--no one can explain it---it's a happening.

I am terrible about putting things like that off.

I know good and well it must be done, it won't even take much time or effort, and that might be part of it, but I can't summon up the gumption to move towards the project.

A perfect example painting the entire fence except for about a three foot by two foot spot. I ran out of paint in the pan, was on my way to get some to finish and got side tracked... for two years. Hell, now I just as well wait a year and do the whole thing.

Depends Jack.   Is it a black tie event, or a typical Redneck affair?

The camo coveralls should work just fine for a black tie event if you have a black bow tie and cumberband.    But that combination might be construed as being downrit snobish and overdressed for a mud wallowing weden.  ???
