KY doe fell tonight to my 35 whelen. I chose it because we didn't have one on the board yet and I couldn't let that be.

LOL,  The EXACT reason I took the 45 Colt today. ;)  (I did not connect tho..)

Congrats on the venison!

I think it was doublebass73 that used the .38 on a squirrel. Mine was a doe with a 35 whelen using 200 hrn SP in KY. Thanks for keepong this list. I sure enjoy keeping up with how everyone is doing.

I have a high school friend who lives in Indiana. When Indiana first offered rifles for deer we spoke about firearms that might be good for him. He did not want to spend allot of $$ as for him its simply a tool. I of coarse recomended a H&R. He choose a 44Mag.

Yesterday he had the oppertunity at a pretty good buck. He has green scored it at 152''.

Well no white tail for me today but I nailed a rather large badger with the .44mag today. Kind of surprised no exit wound and it was only about 60 yards.

Well,

A quick walk this AM before work, netted more venison in the freezer for my buddie!  ;)

178# 4 pt with a 17" spread! 1 1/4" bases and almost 7" between horn bases! He is a stinky brute!  But one lil 100g .243 pill signed his ticket!!

We was only looking for coyotes!! Honest!!  LOL

I took the 16 gauge today since I was hunting an area with lots of partridges and squirrels. Didn't see any deer but I was able to take 2 squirrels before the day was out.

Add one for the H&R 44 mag. Neighbor girl got papa to buy her a rifle so she could hunt with him. She didn't get a shot in youth season or opening weekend. But she made up for it today. This is her first season and first deer. Ms Haley is 11 years old.

Mark down another for the .357 maxi.  181 yd shot and she didn't make it but a couple of feet ;D   I think the state of Indiana has done us a favor.  I know I wouldn't have this rifle if it weren't for our rifle round regulations.  This is a great round and is very good out to 200 anyway.

Add another IN doe with the 357 Maxi.  180 SSPB at 125 yards entering right shoulder and exiting behind left rib cage.  Made it 25 yards.  Blood trail was enormous.

I agree Woody, the state did us a favor! :)

Lonnie, I don't really think a bigger round is necessary. But... I have this messed up barrel that I have to do something with.  The .358 sure sounds interesting and is a somewhat inexpensive thing to do with this barrel.  Other than that I can't really see that I need anything other than this maxi. Heck, because before this all I have ever owned were shotguns, I never have invested in a range finder.  I think that may be my next purchase now.  This gun is a blast to shoot and great to hunt with!  I can't imagine deer hunting with a slug gun ever again.

Bullets did not expand at all leaving exit holes about the size of the tip of your little finger.  I was shooting a light smokelesss load about 1250 FPS. Sorry I did not take a pic of them.            Jedman

My 12 yr. old son has had a great season.  3 whitetail deer: 2 does and 1 spike.  All with one shot.  I bought him a H&R superlight compact 243 for Christmas 3 years ago.  He has shot 8 deer with it so far.

Mark one more Ohio deer down for the smoothbore 20 gauge slug gun.  Offhand shot at approximately 35 yds. using Winchester rifled slugs.

Add another to the 500 S&W. Another small doe. Took her at about 35 yards right at sunset. I will be out this weekend. May switch to the 44 or 357 max before muzzy starts.
