Sika Deer
« on: October 04, 2012, 03:48:16 PM »
Here is a Sika Deer that I shot Tuesday morning. I had been wanting to shoot one of these since this summer and decided to finally do so. They were really alot of fun to hunt and a neat little deer.

Nice deer!!!  I shot a nice one several years ago in TX.  Want to shoot another but haven't found one to my liking yet!  Good job!

sja384,  nice deer.   I shot mine last November, and hope for another one.  They are very good eating too.

Thank you MarkC. That is a very nice, dark colored sika you have there. I tried some meat from the deer and they are very tasty. It looks I may have to take another one in the future.

Ranger 99, if you are sking me, mine was shot on my place in Carta Valley.  If not familiar, Carta Valley is around 40 miles south of Rocksprings, 150 miles west of San Antonio.

i kinda thought the terrain might be familiar.
i think that is still farther south and west of
junction. i hunted in sutton co. by fort mckavett
before and by freer.  i hope you don't forget your
peestolla - we had some unwanted "guests" from
time to time- sometimes in the blinds and sometimes
in the motorhomes and trailers. hunted ft. chadboune
before. stay mostly east now.
nice sika by the way.
lotta high fence and exotic by me now. maybe one
will slip out and stroll by me. . . . ;D

Ranger99, yes it is S/W of Junction.  We used to have a place north of Junction.   As for the uninvited guests on our place, I never travel out there unarmed.  So far the illegals remain west of me.  They tend to line themselves up with a cell tower north of us and use it as a landmark when traveling through.  We have a good relationship with the local sheriff, and border patrol.  They have lock combos to pretty much all of our gates and come on the ranch often.
