Old Style Contender/G2 ?

I have a G2 rifle that I am thinking that I would like to get another barrel for. Am I correct in saying that the old style rifle barrel and old style forearm will fit the G2 frame? I am sure I read it somewhere, maybe even here, but just can't remember at the moment. I was half tempted to try a 21" barrel versus the G2 30-30 barrel I have now.

The barrel will fit. The forearm will not.

I fit all of my Contender G1 fore ends to my G2 just took a little sanding/grinding so they clear the rib on the side of the frame.
