Thanks

I have heard nothing but good things about the 7mm-08. That's why I finally joined the club and got one. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to shoot it.

Thanks, Dinny

We have two Superlights and they shoot better than we can.  It's an easy MOA shooter.  Others here have had the same experience.  Light, fast, accurate and deadly.

I've only had two and both were good shooters.

The "trouble" I had was I did not try enough powder bullet combos at first. I never shoot factory ammo and used what I thought would work when looking through my manual, worked up loads and really wanted to shoot barnes bullets ( I dropped that bullet and load combo idea). Until I read here of a load combo I had not tried yet.  Double checked it in a manual and loaded up 3 shots to try, WOW Now all 3 of ours are sub m.o.a. shooters. So my guns problem was my ignorance in the beginning.   Good luck, mine is my favorite handi and has put the most meat on the table.   thejanitor

Are you asking about accuracy or the dreaded failure-to-fire problem.  I would guess the FTF would be less because of the size of the shoulder and it also seems that the 308 based rounds have not had the FTF as much as the 30-06 based rounds.

The shoulder diameter of the 308 is listed as 0.4539 with a shoulder angle of 20 degrees whereas the shoulder diameter of the 30-06 is listed as 0.4410 and the angle is 17 and 1/2 degrees.  That little bit of extra shoulder area combined with the sharper angle seem to help control or virtually eliminate the FTF.

I've had no trouble with either of my 7mm-08 Handis.  ;) I would say that most any Handi with a proper chamber and good ammo that has misfires is due to bad transfer bars(or timing) and/or weak hammer springs, providing the shooter is knowledgable of H&R trigger and t-bar function, all of which can be fixed, either at home or by the factory which they are exceptionally good at when called upon.

I've had three and all have been great shooters!  I just sold one that shot 3/4" and bought a super lite and that shoots about the same once I put a good scope on it.  And I have not tried to work up a load for it either, it just shoots whatever I put into it very well.  I don't think you could go wrong with one.  44 Man

My first Handi is 7mm-08 and I couldn't be happier. It has shot 140 gr.full power, 140gr reduced recoil,  both  Remington factory  loads and reduced recoil 120 gr  handloads with 32.5 grs. H4895.  Each load shoots from 1 1/4" down to 7/8" or less with the H4895 loads shooting the best.  The only problem I have seen is the barrel heats up pretty fast  so after the third shot the shots start stringing upward pretty fast. Mine is to be used as a huning rifle for a 13yo so I have him shoot it at a 3 1/2 " gong at 100 yds for the first shot with a cold barrel and he rings it every time.

Mine use to give me a problem, until I changed the scope (twice).  Who would have believed that two scopes that I've used for years and known to be reliable would both go bad at the same time).  The stock, the fore end, and finally used an o-ring to float the barrel.

All my Handis get an "O" ring when they get put together the first time.........I haven't removed any of them.  I think that says something about their value.

Which O ring are you using?  Seems I recall there being several in the FAQ.

I bought a pack of "O" rings a few years ago at a local hardware.  The original bag is long gone, but I measure .390 I.D. X 0.10 in thickness.

I just bought another pack from Home Depot, Lowe's also has them, as do most hardware stores.

Danco #8 O-Ring, 9/16" O.D. x 3/8" I.D. x 3/32" (thickness), $2.27 for a pack of ten.  One pack should be more than enough for most of us.  ::)
