Yes, it will work fine as long as it fits, see barrel fitting in the FAQs.  ;)

This doesn't apply to a 12ga USH barrel tho for anyone interested, it's a 10ga size barrel and requires an SB2 10ga shotgun frame.

As stated if it fits, it works.  The SB2 is about an oz lighter, I think.  I had planned to have a 22" 20 Ga youth barrel fitted to my SB2 frame but finally found I could get the whole shotgun used at a Pawn shop cheaper.  Changed the Youth stock for a full length one and then thinned it down and shaped it to straight (Do that with all my shotguns).

You can put low pressure rifle and pistol caliber barrels on an SB1. They are not too hard to fit.  Low pressure meaning 30-30, 35 Rem, 45-70, 444 marlin etc and of course just about any pistol caliber.

I know that .30-30 and .45-70 were once fitted to SB1 frames and I believe .44, .357 come with them now.  I've never heard of a .444 fitted to one though since the Saami is 44,000 cup.

I would not fit any rifle caliber to an SB1 frame.  Pistol calibers sure (excluding the .500 S&W and similar high pressure chamberings).

I just looked up the pressure listed for the 444 as both 42K or 44K.  The 30-30 is 42K so the 444 is the same at the lower pressure. I admit that I've never seen or heard of a 444 bbl for these guns so I might be mistaken.

The 444 has the same case head as the 30-06 at .470" which increases the breech thrust about 1400lbs over the 30-30 @ 42kpsi. The 444 has only been offered by H&R/NEF on a steel SB2 frame, never on a cast iron frame.
