BEST METHOD OF CONCEALMENT

A difficult rig to conceal.  Maybe a large loose coat, but then it woud be slow to access unless you left it unbuttoned, but then the belt would show.

I don't believe a 12" Buntline lends it's self well to a fast draw to begin with.   

p.s.: A cowboy hat is optional but highly recommended with that oilcloth duster.  ;)

I know what you mean Ben.  I'm only 5'6", I'ld be afraid the barrel might drag on the ground.   :-\

Inside the waist band in front of the leg, wear disco pants and walk proud.  I remember seeing small salamis smuggled into bars this way back in the late 60s.

     I just a couple weeks ago gave an Australian oil duster to one of my nephews, he is into the hat, boots, rope in the back window of his pickup high school thing.  Jim

Take a hacksaw to the barrel and leave about 2 inches and put the thing in your coat pocket.

A funny thread, but it's not totally silly.  When I was 18 and serving aboard a Coast Guard cutter, the only gun I owned was a Ruger Blackhawk .357 with a long barrel.  I kept it in my locker.  When I was in port with a day off, I'd go shooting.  I don't know how many times I concealed that big gun under my coat to get off the boat and to my car.  Once I got a hotel room figuring on getting away for a while and doing some shooting.  I strapped the rig on the next morning and walked into the lobby to find dozens of state police officers there for some kind of meeting.  Although some looked at the bulge, no one said anything.  The good ol days I reckon.

Well, OK.  If you are seriously considering concealing a 12" Buntline then I believe you willneed something other than a belt scabbard.  I believe you will need something similar to a pocket holster that goes through the inside of the pocket and down along yer leg.... 
 
When we/I was in the southeast of the Asia or the Lah-teen of America, we could pack a Tokarev or a Walther, or even a 6 shot Colt snubbie in the flare holder pocket that was inside our cargo pockets on our fatique pants.  I beleive the flare pocket was about 8" deep, so if you carry that on through the pants leg to the inside and sew on a 4 or 5" deeper pocket you should have it covered, so to speak...  and, it would be quite handly as well, and doesn't print....  a bit of a trip to the seamstress and you should be set......

The only thing you need for that hog-leg is a Bridgeport rig.
Hammer bolt switched with a threaded stud that fits in a metal clip on your belt.
You can press the gun in and slide it forward to release it.
OR!!!! You can just swivel it up and shoot from the hip with the gun still attached to your belt.

Plumbers Bag.  Grab one handle and the bag flipps open and you reach in and pull the (I was going to say Hog leg but I think it is more like a giraffe leg) revolver and back up a foot and press the barrel to the assailants chest and wink.

Now boys i got a PM suggesting I was smoking something when I posted originaly-----Hummmm---not really a bad conclusion but one that may have to have been there once to think of this.
I just got up one morning and the thought hit me that it was a funny conversation to be having---I just took it up one notch.
There was comment about shoving it down your pants leg---but I can't go there lest I might get scolded severly by the mod.
