H&R Scopes: Does anyone use them?
« on: October 09, 2012, 10:56:01 AM »
I have two 4-12 x 40 H&R scopes that are new, never been used.

I use Bushnell (I live next to the Factory Outlet store) and will not use the H&R scopes.

Do any of you use these for anything besides installing them on your grandson's 10/22?

They're the same scope as come on Remington scoped rifles, they're made offshore, some like em, a lot of them sold in the classifieds for $40 each or so. One member had one that the turret adjustments were backwards, A Dick's combo IIRC. :-\

You sure that wasn't AtlLaw?  The scope sounds like a "left hand scope".  ::) ;D ;D

I've got a 2-7X32 on my .32-20 and I like it.  It has a much finer circle X than the Bushnell Banner.  The adjustments are crisp and correct and it is bright and clear.  A thought that went through my mind is that boresight adjustments are always backward.....could this have been the case?  I find it hard to believe a few could have been manufactured with reversed adjustments.

O.T.  (sort of)   My friend bought a Bushnell new 2 years ago and its L-R turret works backwards as to the arrow under the cap...  so it does happen.
But otherwise he loves the scope, we just marked under the cap that it is wrong.....   thejanitor

pete the scope came on a Dick's SG combo, I took it off before ever fireing that rifle, stuck it on a bolt action 223 bore sighted it and started to sight it when I realized the adjustments were backwards.

I've had one that was backwards.  It doesn't really matter, you waste one or two shots figuring that out, but then once you dial it in, you're not likely to have to re-adjust L-R ever again.  I certainly wouldn't not use it, just mark it with a piece of tape so you know if you take it off that gun.  44 Man
