Poachers are out
« on: October 09, 2012, 01:44:25 PM »
300 punder up around Eagle Creek called Nightmare. This is one of the stories of the event. Google it, there are more details. Guy used a .270 and spotlight. Said when he seen the deer he just lost it. Uhm no, you were carrying a .270 rifle(not legal for deer in Indiana) I hope they burn him.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A giant buck called “Nightmare” for its size and ability to elude hunters is living up to its nickname even in death.
Department of Natural Resources officials say they were able to catch a man suspected of illegally killing the deer in part because he wasn’t able to lift the 300-pound carcass into his truck.
Conservation Officer Jet Quillen tells The Indianapolis Star that authorities were called to a property near Eagle Creek Park early Tuesday after a resident heard a gunshot.
The resident caught the suspected poacher struggling to load the deer. He fled, but not before the property owner got his license plate.
Authorities say the man admitted shooting the buck and could face charges.
Deer hunters aren’t allowed to use firearms in Indiana until mid-November.

One of the biggest deer I have ever seen was at Eagle Creek park.  The hind end was so wide! The antlers seemed wider than his body.  Not really a tall rack but thick and wide. Wish I had a picture to share!  This is a great park early in the morning and evening for watching deer!

Why do people have to do things like that >:(

They are just like thieves. They get away with it couple times, then they figure they wont get caught. And they know the punishment is minimal. Take their hunting license? They don't need it to hunt after dark anyways.
