First and foremost--I have not any here to be offensive. I didn't say non-thinking, but that is not offensive. I was/maybe am, a doper, if that is a term you would like to use and it makes you feel superior or more holy---I don't care.
I have no guilt complex from smoking MJ and I certainly am a Christian--the only one I can actually identify as a Christian.
The questions here are not norality. The questions here are bottom line.
How do you control it. Give a good workable answer. All I am hearing is pissing in the wind talk. No one can legislateaway anything folks want to do to theirownselves----please understand that I am calling everyone here stupid if they think that they can stop folks from destroying theirownselves.
We all know what will happen/can happen when you mess with anything dangerous---this includes snakes and drugs--fast cars--illicite sex with strangers--walking on the side of highways--putting up your own sattilite dish--going to bed at night and smoking cigs---heck fire life is a dangerous place to be and you won't get out alive. Christians die and sometimes horribly.
The same old tactics have not worked since the beginning.
Really, I honestly think that some of you just don't get it.
Blessings
TEXAS, by GOD

Some excellent points william:

I find it amazing that there are Christians out there who like to talk down to other Christian brothers and take a holier-than-thou attitude against them.

I'm beginning to think that some people really don't care about fixing the problem, they think if they support what on the surface seems right (even though it hasn't worked for 40 years) then everything is fine and dandy despite the thousands of deaths that occur each year as a result of the current policy.
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but laws will not prevent---certainly more laws don't do any better.
If there is to be a change it must be within and most folks have never wanted to change within.
Blessings

Have you ever noticed William, that only after they have exhausted all their resources. And their back is against the wall or they are faceing retribution for their actions, will they ever seek out grace!
Or try to atone in any way for the things they have done.

Various reasons for continuing the drug war. Some just want to, because that's the way it's been. For others, they like to feel morally superior to those who make choices that are diff from their own (smoking, drinking, dancing, choice of religion, sexual choices)... these types like their preferences in codified. Still others... have a vested interest in maintaining The War on (some) Drugs - they've got their pensions and rice bowls and fiefdoms at stake, and preserving those is far, far more important to them than the greater good. '

then there's all manner of court types, prison types, those in various state-funded counseling/support positions (these actually fall under rice bowl)
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Yup, and I do like Rice ! In fact my last name is Rice ! And instead of using my education to work in some fancy laboratory, or some big hospital pulling in a six digit salary per year .
I chose to work at some state funded counseling facility in a support position, so I could get paid a
stipend wage so I could buy myself a bowl of rice now and then.
Only because of my own selfishness, that i only wanted to continue the war on drugs !
Yes sir, you don't miss a thing do you ?

I miss some things, like we all do. Are you answering my post as though it were directed at you... bearing in mind I know nothing about you, Anna?

But perhaps it fits. Are you one who benefits from the continued unthinking War on (some) Drugs, to the extent that you're unwilling to consider alternatives to what we've doing?

Anna, some people will take you to task for wanting to do the right thing.  YOU are on the moral highground.  I salute you, and God will reward you.

Well Mr Yamaha, I know nothing about you either. But when you make an off the cuff and very misinformed comment about the work I am involved in, or the type of people I work with within the justice system.
Which by the way I have made no secret about that fact on this board, then are you also so thin skinned that you cannot accept a rebuttal to your claims without getting personal ?
And as far as your assumption that I have not offered any alternatives to the war on drugs you are very wrong.  If you can take the time to look, I have offered several alternatives to our current situation. Many of them that are currently being implemented on a trial basis.
Then to answer your question about if I am reeking in the benefits "your words not mine" of the continued war on drugs ?  That is a ludicrous assumption at best, and barely worthy of an answer .
Unthinking is right, but it isn't coming from this end of this conversation by any means .
So tell me exactly what you think should be done ?  Since you claim to have a fairly good bead on things that obviously you know nothing about .
You seem to relish in telling people it fits, when was it not you who said you know nothing about me?
Your turn sir !

Ok! Once again a couple of you have made this a personal negative thing, and you both know or should, that it's against the rules. Just discus the post about Mex Cartels flooding America with cheap meth, not you said, I said chatter.

Why do we Mods have to keep saying this over and over? I .know most on here are well educated and can read the GB rules for posting. Why is it so hard for some to practice it?Keep your personal feelings for others to yourself or PM them, and go at it.Give the rest that want to debate a chance to do so.
