Now that the White Hots have been out a few years is anyone else using them with good results .? I am using 2 pellets behind Hornady 240 XTPs getting 1 1/2 inch group at a 100. Cleanup seems very easy.

I have a CVA Acura 2 and their literature (obviously) recommends white hots and power belts. I am curious to hear if others feel their is a clear advantage over 777 or Pyrodex.

I have been looking locally for B209, have not found any for sale.

Anybody know what those things are made of? I suspect ascorbic acid but haven't had any to mess with. Do they change weight a lot with humidity changes?

if your haveing good results then use them. i have two inline rifles but i use bp in them cuz its way cheaper per shot.i dont know what the white hots cost but if they are like pyrodex or triple seven pellets then im out.try  100 grns of real black powder and see what you get.i can clean my guns in 10 minutes with hot soapy water, so its not really a chore. pellets are nice for quick loading of follow up shots. but ive never needed that either.i keep a few pellets around for a buddy who hunts with me and borrows my guns during muzzy season.

There is not a vendor selling black powder within 100 miles of me. Ordering online gets you $30 powder + $30 shipping.

I can find pyrodex, 777 and white hots locally, as well as granulated pyrodex.

Hodgdon owns IMR, and they are basically a 777 pellet without the coloring. They are packaged better than the 777/Pyrodex pellets, being sealed in 12 tubes of 6 pellets each, but only 72 pellets per package.
 
777 and White Hots are the most expensive muzzleloading propellant per shot.

Saw white hot for the first time at the range today.  The guy was using 100 grains of powder and sabots.  2 inch groups at 50 yards with open sights and swabbed once every 10 shots or so.  Smoke tasted different than pyrodex.


He said it cleaned up easy.

that is gtting to be a problem. we do have a local shop that stocks it for less than 20 buks a pound. my dad uses a bunch of it also, i may look into getting a lifetime supply next time he orders in bulk.

Its more than just the coloring guys. IMR Whitehots with a 250gr powerbelt shoot 1630 some odd FPS while with 2 T7 pellets " Not the mag pellets" its slightly over 1800 FPS. They dont create as much fouling because they are mild compared to T7. More in the range of Pyrodex.
