Met an old timer once that used to take his yellow lab along coyote hunting and played fetch with a wrist rocket that shot tennis balls. He used a "squeeler" call as he put it and figured the coyotes always thought that dog was killin' something. I asked how the dog felt about being bait and he just laughed and told me that every time they get close enough for him to notice, that dog would make a b line to him and bring those coyotes right in. Shoulda asked to go huntin' with him. But I'm not too good at fetchin

That one big "coyote" straddling the tree trunk, sure doesn;t look like a coyote to me.......white muzzle.....long long ears ,  white legs..
Looks like some breed of Husky mix.......Long ears and coyotes mean southern , Texas,  type dogs.......the farthur north , the shorter the ears..............just an observation

We get all colors here!!  I have shot red, black, light and dark... and they are ALL BIG!!  35# is small average, 40-43# about average with 60+ NOT unusual. I have a 63# Full body mount in my family room.

I have herd both sides of the argument conserning ''coydogs'' I dont know. Personally the one I like was from a state biologist who said something about the extinct RED WOLF jeans, that lived here long ago...

BTW, I'm in Connecticut.  ;)

Thats a good lookin yote cw! I haven't forgotten about the pellet guns either, just haven't made it to pop's place yet. When I asked him he gave me the "hell I don't know" routine and that usually means you'll have to come visit to find out.

Morning Sam!

The one in my pic above was shot with my 454! It was quite telling too... That was the last 200 FTX I used on game. It went in behind the shoulder at about 50 yards. Opened up a large hole and turned 90 degrees exited his brisket between his front legs with an even larger hole...

BTW, I sent a couple emails, did you get them?

By winter's end the abundance of mice are the yotes delight around the bales of hay.  I made these cardboard cutouts with long tails for added target.

I live in northern Colorado and the coyotes love the open spaces between towns and subdivisions I can here them at night from my back porch. People here keep complaining that coyotes are getting aggressive but they don't want to kill them they just want to move them do they're somebody else's problem.
My old neighbourhood we had red foxes. A guy let his smaller dog out closed the sliding door heard a yelp turned around to see a fox jumping over his fence with his dog in its mouth. This was in the middle of town.

Yeah; I read about those subdivision yotes. Hunter have found how to get around those places w/o being noticed.  They drive an old van.  Dress like a trail hiker in tennis shoes n back pack, filled with camo gear, breakdown high powered pellet gun, lures, and predator calls, and plastic bags for the pelts.  Some even haul out the yotes to keep the area clean.  The folks don't even know they've been there. All they know is their little poochies, and kitty's have stopped disappearing.
