Anyone use 100 grain remington core-lokt to deer hunt ?Like to know how it preformed.

I hunt with a different set of rifles each year.  The 2506 is a go to rifle for me however.  I confess that my rifle likes the 100 grain better on paper but the margin of accuracy compared to the 117and120 grain bullets is very slim.  I get more DRT results with the larger bullets and both are good for long range shots.

I was just the opposite with 100 gr bullets. for me they killed like lighting but you sure didn't want to hit near anything I'd want to eat. The 117 gr on the other hand seldom would drop a deer right there. Usually they'ed walk off 10 or 15 yds and lay down dead. I much prefered the 117 gr bullet's. Accuracy was close enough alike to not even mention.

Bullet location is by far a bigger factor.  I take a lot of head and neck shots on doe.  Both billets would work just swell.

im with charles. Ive killed lots of deer the the 2506 and find very little differnce between meat loss with a 120 or a 100. Bullet placement determines meat loss more then anything. Hit one in the shoulder with any high velocity round and your going to ruin those shoulders. Hit behind the shoulder and even my 7stw using ballistic tips does no more damage then maybe ruining the ribs.

True. I take out some ribs on occasion & wipe out the lungs, but who eats Lungs & Deer ribs is hardly the best ribs out there. I have used a bunch of different bullets 100 gr & 115-125 on Deer, both kill quick if of proper const. & pushed hard.

My 25-06 has become my go to gun for deer and antelope.  The drop where they stood it turns the lungs into jello.

As to actually answering your question. Yes the Rem 100 core-lokt will do a fine job on deer. Just put it in the vitals and you will have a dead deer. I use Sierra 117 gr Pro Hunters in my 25-06 after trying many different bullets. My rifle really likes them, 1 1/4" five shot groups @ 300 yards and 99% of the time it is  bang flop on a deer. I really never found any bad deer bullets from 100 to 120 gr for the 25-06. There is just something about the 25-06 that just kills deer DRIT. I have killed deer with about everything thing from 22lr through a 45-70 and the 25-06 is my go to rifle. I helped my hunting buddy do crop damage control hunting for 15 years on a big farm in NC. We learned a thing or two about what did and did not do a good job on deer.

A tad out side of your question but the 100 gr works really well in my 243.   Also, I don`t get massive meat damage .

Its easy to get excited about the 25-06:
-  less recoil than .308
-  shoots flatter than 7mmMAG

you know i am havaing the same thought. My handi 25-06 shoots the 115 nos bt great with a mid load of h4350. My thought has been to go with a 100 grain as the 243 kills deer great so would only be an improvement over the 243 and give the options for larger game with heavier bullets. 243 may have seen its last days.
