Not personally, but a friend has used them with great success. Resist the tempatation to run them any faster than standard 357 Magnum velocities and the bullet stays together quite well.  ;)

Hornady's website says that bullet expands reliably between 800 and 2100 fps.

The only .357 FTX is a 140g and I would NOT recomend anywhere near 2100 fps if your gonna shoot big game. Its designed for the 357 Magnum at about 1350 fps. Pistol bullets are not built like rifle bullets. For the most part NO tapered jackets or hardness differences in the lead. In short, it's not gonna hold togather, especially if bones are struck... :o

BUT if you include the .358 diameter, the 200g FTX is a very good candidate at the same 2100 fps!! Some guys here have pushed this one quite a bit faster with very good results.

CW,

Have you ever tried this bullet in the 357 Max? If so I was curious as to what velocities are attainable (if you can push it fast enough to expand reliably).

Yes I have shot it and its very accurate from my guns. One loading that really stood out was with RL7 powder. This is too slow really and you simply cannot get enough in the case to attain good ballistics. But accuracy was great. I don't remember exact numbers but guessing 17-1800 fps.

I was worried about it but many guys and especially 336SC shoots this bullet allot and has nothing but good words about it.

As a rule I feel best performance from the Maxi comes from the 180 weight. But if this bullet preforms well at the lowest speeds it could make a great 200g Maxi bullet!

for use in lever action rifles as a rifle bullet.  :-\

Hornady's website says that bullet expands reliably between 800 and 2100 fps.

The Hornady 8th manual lists the muzzle velocity range for the .357" 140gr FTX as 850-1600fps, their 357 Mag rifle data lists a max muzzle velocity of 1650fps in their 16" barrel, the factory LE 357 mag ammo averaged ~1811fps in my 22" Handi.

Little miss understanding... (NOT being a smart arse) Hornady Lever Evolution ammo is designed with pointy bullets" Loaded with new preformance powders for lever rifles. YES they do use FTX bullets in these loads, but also offer other bullets of the same design
Almost the same. They use SAME technology for the Critical Defence pistol ammo, tactile duty ammo for rifles and pistols SST Rifle slugs in shotguns and even some muzzle loader progectiles!!!  ALL FTX type bullets. ;)

ok.

i had thought the leverevolutions were supposed
to be for rifles at rifle velocity, and that the ftx
component booletts were supposed to be the
same as were loaded in the l.e. ammo.
that's what i get for thinking :-[  doo happens
