Alternative to the oring

I was interested to know if we are using the oring because it is easy to get or is it the best choice . If a machined shape in plastic of metal is a better choice I might be able to develop it. Any ideas?

I use steel shims, custom washers made of .012" shim stock myself, they provide the necessary clearance and never change due to compression or different temps.

I use the O-ring because it's easy, cheap, and I've never had an issue with them.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
