BLR owners: Would you measure something for me, please?
« on: October 20, 2012, 01:28:17 PM »
I'd like to know the outside diameter of the barrel, at the muzzle.  I'd ESPECIALLY like to hear from take-down owners.  You see, I recall reading somewhere that the take-downs have a little bit heavier barrels than the 'regular' models.

So, what I'm after is:
Muzzle O.D.
BLR model
Receiver material (steel or aluminum)
Chambering (i.e. 308, 243, etc).

My 'regular' Lightning BLR (aluminum receiver, AR-style lockup) in 243 Win has a 0.560" muzzle O.D.

Thanks!

P.S.  I'm really mainly only interested in 30-cal and down.  I don't respond well to heavy recoil any more, and where I live now makes it seem like there'll never, ever be another close-range shot on anything.

I have a 'Lightweight' BLR in 308. I'll try to measure it when I go below next time. What is the reason again for the measurement?

Thanks, 1sourdough.  I'm trying to determine whether the rumor is true that the takedown models have slightly heavier/thicker barrels, especially near the muzzle.  I really like my BLR, but would very much like a little thicker/heavier barrel.  So, since I can't find takedown BLRs in person, I'm looking for help from those who have them.  If they're a little heavier, I'd probably make a change to a takedown model.

from lessons learned, if your
present BLR is a reliable accurate
shooter, i'd not trade it off for an
unknown something.now, when i find a
proven something i hang on to it .
i wish i'd known that at a younger age.
