Slowing down on the riding,it's time to hunt.
« on: October 22, 2012, 04:18:34 PM »
The deer are starting to move and the pigs are eating everything they can find. Bike is getting less time and the woods more. Just seen a lot of does and small bucks so far. But the small bucks are chasing some and are starting to get active on small scrapes. The hogs are tearing up everything but this one wandered in front of a crossbow bolt.  250 lbs dressed out but I think the scales were off at the processer I guessed him no more than 200lb.  @ 7 yards the Rage broadhead just penetrated the shoulder armor on both sides but the arrow stayed in. Dropped in his tracks. Getting the whole hog ground for sausage. Black powder starts this Saturday following a cold front looking to fill one of my 2 buck tags if the right one comes thru.
Deer hunting is mostly fun then you shoot one and it turns to work.

Took daughter for a ride on the FZ1 Sunday, and killed a nice spike today. This is by far my favorite time of the year...  8)

Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Muzzleloading season started Saturday here in OK and I got a nice young eight point with my .50 cal New England Arms. He came in 25 yards downwind? ??? and stopped broadside. I'm left handed and had to shoot right handed but still drove the tack. Went 40 yards and piled up. We don't wiegh them at checkin anymore but I guessed him at 110 to 120 lbs.  They are starting to trail does, so by next week the rut should be gearing up good. We can can only take 2 bucks combined for all seasons so I'm going to be picky on the next one.  Temps 31 to 53 all weekend and being at camp I got in no riding.

Mornings are now about 35 degrees in Southern Indiana.  Too cold for my 30 minute commute to work.  Time for the bike to stay in the corner of the garage.  Enjoyment riding time ended October 1 with the opening of the archery season.

Finally got pic of the buck I took. They are trailing does hard coming to a grunt call. I rattled one in a huge 8 point as close as 7 yards to my 94 yearold dad. He was next to a big tree that blocked him with his crossbow the whole time till the buck jumped a fence into the brush. I was really depressed you can't get many chance like that when your that age on a walker wearing a hearing aid. :'(

Rattled this guy in from a distance on opening morn of rifle season. I'm out of buck tags so I'll spend the season helping my dad fill his tag. He needs a little help spotting them these days.

I got the Walls overalls out, and jacket. Down here in this part of Texas you can usually ride about 340 days out of 360.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett
