Black Powder Revolvers -Deer Hunting

Is it legal in Texas during the regular rifle( gun) season to use a black powder revolver for deer hunting?

reg. book, yes -use it during general season.
illegal only during muzzleloader only hunts.
will the g.w. still look at you sideways?

Thanks for the concise reply , as black powder revolvers have really gotten to be a very formidable tool for taking deer and other big game. Alot of people are still not aware of the power and foot pounds of energy that can be generated by these revolvers. The Walker, Rogers & Spencer, and the Model 1858 Remington(especially in the 12" barrel) can really be loaded to great performance scenarios!
Yes I can see some G.W`s looking askance at your revolver!

Just another example of people making regulations who have no concept of what they are actually doing! Just like some of our Washington D.C. crew!!

Interesting discussion..  I just happened to have just read something about the muzzleloading handguns not being allowed during ML only hunting seasons.  I do not know the reasoning behind the restriction either.  Always thought a ML handgun would be fun to shoot.

Muzzleloader: Any firearm that is loaded only through the muzzle. Note: A cap and ball firearm in which the powder and ball are loaded into a cylinder is not a muzzleloader. Muzzleloader deer seasons are restricted to muzzleloading firearms only.
 
Technically, are the handguns you mentioned considered cap and ball?   If so, then they would be illegal.

single pistol with me hunting as a
back up second shot, but the difference
is it is loaded through the muzzle and
is legal by definition in the reg. book.
b.p. revolvers are loaded in the cylinder
and by definition are not legal for
muzzleloader-only seasons.

a gnat's a&&, but they write the book.
