There are a couple recommended 308W rounds listed in the FAQs topic Best Factory Ammo.

an unloaded wepon is equal to the same mass and volume as a rock.

i have had good luck with hornady 165 gr SPBT over 44.8 gr of varget in federal brass.  i know it is not factory but you can probably get a round that comes close to that.

As a rule with the Handi's they seem to shoot good with the less expensive ammo such as Remington Core-Lokts or Federal blue box.  Winchester and Hornady's also shoot well as some of the others in just about any flavor as these guns aren't that particular when it comes to factory ammo.
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.
