Sixty-three %: Isolationist
« on: October 25, 2012, 05:01:26 PM »
LA Times article:

"It has been an article of faith of Republican and Democratic administrations for five decades that America should be deeply involved in the Middle East to help protect Israel, to safeguard sources and shipments of oil, and to maintain peace in a region beset by constant tumult. But a Pew Research Center poll this month found that 2 out of 3 Americans believe the United States should be less involved with leadership changes in the Middle East. Fewer than 1 in 4 said it should be more involved. Some 57% said it was more important to have stable governments in the region, even if that meant less democracy."

"To be sure, some Americans remain deeply committed to a fully engaged foreign policy, including advocates for improved trade, human rights, a strong defense and allies with strong ties to the United States, such as Israel. Their supporters lobby on Capitol Hill and provide important political and financial support to candidates.
But polls show the issue is not a high priority for most voters

Study after study has shown how dangerous distracted driving is yet people continue to talk on their cell phones while driving. Driving in the U.S. requires your full attention. Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

Phony premise from the outset! The above is NOT Isolationist sentiment. It's Non-intervention Thinking. Two completely different things.

But the use of "Isolationist" stirs more angst. ::)

Americans did care about Israel.  They were brainwashed over decades to do so.  The polls though do reflect an increasingly informed populace that rejects a failed foreign policy.  Their good feelings about Israel has now been refuted and contradicted by real events and the facts.

Let's not forget that Mitt and Bibi are great friends...both worked together after business college at I believe The Boston Capital Firm...or some name like that.....which was another finance and asset stripping operation.

Even if Mitt never knew Bibi, he'd be bending over for Israel like all Republicans do except Ron Paul.  Remember, this is supposed to be the election for President of the U.S.  Why does a foreign nation matter so much to so many traitors?

You mention evangelical Christians.  I was watching TBN the other day and they had an interesting documentary about the history of Israel.  Did any Christians see that documentary?  A jew who evidently had some knowledge was interviewed.  He said everybody thinks the greatest contribution to Israel was the American aid it  received.  He said that is not true.  The greatest contribution, he said, Israel has received is the intellectual capital Israel received from the U.S.S.R.!

He is correct.  Jews were a dominant elite in the U.S.S.R. They had jobs, positions and 'intellectual capital.'  It is interesting that evangelicals support a nation many of whose members were elites in the greatest Christian persecuting nation.  If only they knew.

Who are you guys... ??? ?

We're the isolationists.  We're 63% of America.  Our views are being discussed.  What is your view?   :D

He's not quite telling you the truth, Painted.

The stance outlined in the original post is NOT Isolationist. It is Non Interventionist....completely different. But as noted earlier, the use of the word "Isolationist" stirs more angst, making it more fun for the poster. ::)

Whichever word you wish to use as long as you (we) keep our nose out of other peoples concerns would work for me just fine.
