New 22 RF ammo... ESP Magnum offerings.
« on: October 26, 2012, 02:38:51 AM »
Morning fellas,

We made a trip last night to Cabelas for some ammo. (The only factory stuff I buy really. PP handgun stuff, Turkey/Goose loads and my favorite Rimfires)

I'm a bit of a 22MAG nut... Last count was 11firearms. Gonna be 12 if and when KelTec makes my PMR... (Done get me started on that road) ::) Most are handguns. Only two are rifles. A H&R and a Marlin 782.

I really wanted some Winchester PDX1 ammo but they did not have any. I got some +V from CCI that I also wanted. Trouble is, different name and packaging since my last purchase. So I hope it's the same?!? (Wish they just called it Magnum Stingers) my 782 Marlin shoots them into dimes at 50 yards.

I also wanted and got the Hornady 30g ammo I read good things about.

I also read Speer has jumped in the 22Mag market. Altho I have a couple boxes of CCi gold with a Gold Dot bullet from ten years back... CCI/Speer was same CO once upon a time.  Guessing its same stuff repackaged.

I have and very much like the 45g Critical Defence 22Mags from Hornady. VERY accurate in my mags.

Any one try this new Winchester stuff yet??

That's a big family to feed!
Glad I found a load "good enough" after two boxes (CCI 40gr JSP) for my Sav. 93.
22M's aren't cheap.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

LOL,
4 of the 10 are NAA mini revolvers, 4 are Ruger SA's and one is a Colt SA, One more is S&W 651 and last is a S&W 48. I don't shoot the NAA's too much, same for the Rugers. But I do shoot the lil Colt mostly cause it carries and shoots so well. It actually sees more holster time than the 651 that I wanted so badly. ::)

Here is the 17M2 & 22LR shelf:

I cannot find my pic of the 17HMR/22MAG shelf....  ??? ???

No body?

I have the 22Mag Sporster in the truck along with a box of 50g Federal's, under my jacket and boots. I'm going for a "walk" after work tonight... ;)

I tried the new Winchester .22 mags a couple of weeks ago and was not impressed! I had at least one FTF every 10 shots and not as accurate as the Hornady.

I know every barrel is a 'law unto itself', but I did put the 22M cyl. on my '77 Ruger S-S Six to try out and liked what Ive got initially with the Win. Dynapoints. What 'real' magnums have worked well for you in the Rugers?

I've tried a about 5 different kinds of mag ammo in my single-6 and it likes the Dynapoints the best.

I haven't shot mags from my single sixes in many years.  :o   I was  ever satisfied with there accuracy. I have a Colt Scout chambered in 22Mag that shoots very accurately.

I will have to try the dyna points, as I havent shot them thru a ruger yet.

They are the flash plated lead 45 gr. HPs spec'ed at about 1550fps (rifle) and Ive chrono'ed at 1500ish from a carbine length barrel. My S-SS also has a Mk II type undercut front blade on it so I get a very nice sight pic compared to a ramp. I was drilling the 'spots' out at my backyard 50yd. range (you know, pick a good visual on the berm, aim & squeeze) from a casual rest off the deck rail  ;D . I havent even tried any real maggies with coats on yet.

I picked up a brick of Fiocci FMJs to try. From what I read they are made by ATI. IIRC they are CCIs parent company.

I'll shoot them in a couple weeks sooner if I get a call saying my PMR-30 has come in!!!
