I am surprised he did not urge all 57 states to celebrate.

In 1956, the Republican party platform, Declaration of faith read.
We shall continue to support vigorously the United Nations.
And from that day forward, both parties have done so.

I presume they still do,sadly it isn't going to happen any time soon. BTW while burning of the USA flag is legal, it would not surprise me that burning the UN flag might land you in jail.
