aoudad and nilgai
« on: October 28, 2012, 04:05:28 AM »
A while back, I asked for input on the new Trophy Bonded Bear Claw.
Recently returned from my hunt and thought some might like to see the results.
Both animals were taken with a single shot.
Bullets performed outstandingly, especially on the nilgai. He dropped where he stood.
The aoudad measured 30 1/2 inches.
I plan on getting  a half mount done and the nilgai will be a wall pedestal.

when I retired from the Navy I got myself a H-S Precison pro series 2000 in  .300 WSM. A great gun ,on a good day I can get 1/ 2 " groups at 100 yds on the bench. Sighted in at 200 yds. with 180 grain bullets and then, with the increased velocity you get with a 165 grain bullet, the trajectory is the same for all practical purpose.

cheese
 yep, Texas

less than an inch.

There is no doubt H-S makes a great gun. The price however has gone up like ever thing else, up over more than 60% since I got mine.

Thanks Doug, Yeah,it's going to be a long wait til I get him back. I think the wall pedestal was the only way to go with him. Got a real small house so will use the time to find a spot for him. The half mount of the aoudad however has had a spot reserved for him since I started planning the trip.
