I'm retired USMC in Jacksonville. There are a few places around here . Try the Croatan. There are a few huntable populations reported there. My buddy killed one turkey hunting with a bow a few years back. The other place is anywhere S of the Cape Fear River. There are some gamelands in Brunswick County with pigs on them. Ive seen their sign while deer hunting and Ive seen piglets, never got a shot at anything good sized though. Havent hunted there in a few years so you'll need to judge for yourself. I have heard the fork of the Cape Fear near Beullaville has some feral pigs. Its mostly private property through there though. Wherever you choose, it'll take work.
Hunting pigs on public land in NC is a pain. You must hunt only during an open season for other game and must use the method of take for that season ie bow, blackpowder, etc. You can hunt them during small game season but must use rimfire or # 6 shot or smaller. I have spoken to the game warden about this foolishness and they say it is to prevent deer poaching. The Game Commission might change the rules if enough people complain. If you hunt private property, there's no regs, just dont hunt on sundays. Good luck. KD
