Garage sale holster find?
« on: October 29, 2012, 10:36:31 AM »
I don't much about this holster but i couldn't pass it up, it use to belong to an LAPD officer in the days.  It can be unlatch so that when your sitting down in the crusier you don't have to unbuckle the holster. In the back is say (PATROLMAN).  Anyone know the his.. Paid $15.00 for it  ;D

Several people made the old "swivel holster". Bianchi, and others. Like you said, it was to unsnap in the car, and was for a short waisted, long armed officer to get a better angle on the draw. It never really caught on in the south, as the leather snap leather stretched and the holster would flop around on the run. Haven't seen one of those in years, but can remember rookie officers buyin'em and swearin by'em. For about a month, and then it would "disappear" from his wardrobe. Still, it's a piece of L.E. history.

Seen a lot of them at gunshows for sale.  I have one like yours except mine has 6 cartridge loops on the upper part.  I think everyone that I've seen was for a 6" which tells you about how old they are. I bought a gun and the holster was included but I've never found a use for it except as part of a collection of ald holsters.  H08
