All I got from so many discussions is that NEITHER man is a great choice to be president. The problem is that we the people chose both of them. The question that comes to mind is -"WHAT'S WRONG WITH US." ?

Please leave out the better of 2 evil stuff and address why we the people have chosen these two .

the USA is a melting pot, and in some recipes you have to be careful that the ingredients don't separate as you cook. we have boiled over.
wasn't it Thomas Jefferson that said, to the effect, that you need a revolution every 200 years or so??
kind of a cleansing effect.

Too easy to just blame Liberals. Alot of conservatives aren't happy with Romney. Time to widen your view of things.

Part of the problem is within the primary's and how they are handled, and who is allowed to vote in them. Much less who is running in them, your average person from either party never stands a chance.
And since our MSM has become nothing but a coordinated propaganda machine anymore, its pretty

The real problem is how much media time costs and how much money it takes to run for president. I would gladly pay a poll tax if it meant pushing special interests out of the decision making process of who runs for president.

Probably the one thing that affects our politics in a negative way more than anything else is that the lame stream media is effectively just an arm of the Dumycrat Party and even though that media is in a death spiral, they still influence far too many voters.
It's also apparent that an awful lot of Americans don't do well in mathematics. And that includes most of our lawmakers.
I actually think that Romney just might be a very good choice for President--not that he was my first choice, but at least with him, you have to believe that he really wants to make things right. He is a very wealthy man and he could just go and live out his life in a style that most folks would kill for. But he has chosen to put himself through the wringer with nothing to gain, but criticism and turmoil. I believe he is a capitalist and a believer in America; unlike the present office holder who is a communist and doesn't have a whole lot of regard for America and its values.

Romney and Obama have both been vetted by the oligarchy. You have been bought with media.

Both men are Keynesians.
Both are economically destructive.

The only non-keynesian was vetted out.

Yeah, I know that now days, at least a cursory course in astronomy should be a requisite in order to appreciate the numbers associated with budgets and such, but lacking that, I'll settle for someone who at least made it past 7th grade arithmatic. The clown in the White House freely admitted to his deficiencies in math and he has made that demonstrably clear.

I remember around here that only voters who paid property taxes could vote. The idea was if you had a vested interest in the community it was up to you to control the folks in office. If you didn't have any property, you didn't need to vote. Now we have folks on taxpayer programs who are voting to keep the freebies coming. Those folks are called Democrats and the biggest liar is usually who they vote for because they are mostly uneducated, lazy, and too stupid to research the candidate. Otherwise, the elections have become a popularity contest with who has the most money to put their name out in front of the public. The media also chooses who you see to vote for. Don't think for a moment that the elections are free choice. The media says who you get to see and they'll pit their favorite against who they think will lose the election. That's how you end up with 2 losers to vote for.

I can only add that in the early history of the US, only the Representatives were voted into office. The people then understood that they would have to pay for the government, therefore only property owners voted. People today don't know who pays for the government. Most think that it pays for itself.

The problem is we have "outgrown" our need/desire to be free people! Individualism is is no longer in vogue! Incrementalism has done it's job of destroying the American ideal of freedom. The socialistdemolibs long ago realized that they could not tear down the American Dream through a quick revolution at the ballot box, so they have chipped away at it a little bit at a time.....and now they are speeding it up.

The old saw about "voting themselves bread and circuses" has come to pass! It was one of the reasons the founders of this nation went with a republic instead of a true democracy. They hoped that with a constitutional republic, containing limits on government, and spelling out our rights they could hold the masses back from the trough of public funding for everyone. It worked for a while.

With a long slow approach the socialistdemolibs have literally changed the meaning of "rights" as understood by the people who created this nation. The right to "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" Now means you have a "right" to food, shelter, medical treatment, entertainment and whatever else you can think of that you like. Our forefathers didn't think that way! They believed that everyone should pull their own weight, work for their food & shelter, pay for their own medical treatments, and anything else they thought they wanted they should work for too! They did NOT think the government should be tasked with providing the essentials for anyone/everyone. If you didn't pay your way in their day, you died......period. Funny thing is, people were actually generally very happy under that system of beliefs. They worked and they took care of their own.

Now that the belief system has changed to where we all think we have the "right" to everything, we vote for any politician who will promise to "keep it coming"....and most of them do. Any pol who tells the bald truth about our system now, is regulated to the trash heap of history. Any politician who comes right out and admits we cannot keep paying for everyones wants/needs out of the public trough is a goner right from the outset. Tell people, "you have to start thinking for yourselves, save for retirement, buy insurance, take care of your family, be responsible......" Well you know how far that's going to go!

It took a few more generations than the left wanted but it has come to pass.

And our opponents know this all to well. The trouble with republicans is that they all want to be the boss. So when some real talent comes along it is often shouted into silence by those who think they know better. Where those are the ones that are usually only a product of the good ole boy buddy system that we see so often with our kind. Then our enemy's only have to stir that pot even further, while claiming to be one of us. We conservatives have definatly got a bad (Trojan Horse)complex when it comes to things like this .

Anna, You need to differenciate between "conservatives" and "republicans". They are not the same thing.

One can be a republican without being conservative and one can be conservative without being republican.

However, my thoughts are that conservatives really have no desire to run the lives of their fellow men. It's a basic attribute of the conservative mindset. Unfortunately this also means that true conservatives not prone to running for office.

But as one commands all the attention as speaking for all of us, this is where we get into trouble every time. So like I pointed out,why do we allow a Trojan Horse into our mist while knowing what is inside?

We the people, for a great percentage, have lost common sense. How many people 100 years ago, would go along with the give away programs, spend 30 times their income. Be so free and easy with money. Liberty is dead. It was voted out long ago by both Democrats and Republicans alike. It doesn't matter who is in power, each side is all about controlling the populace. We are all on our way to becoming full-fledged subjects rather than citizens. We are active participants in our own demise by continuing to support those who seek to control us.
