Hammer Spur for T/C Encore
« on: October 30, 2012, 01:41:14 PM »
Does T/C or Uncle Mike make a Hammer spur for my Encore? I have a Scope mounted as low aspossible and its hard to cock the hammer with so close a clearance to the scope eye piece. Thanks for the info.Crowcommander

I'm guessing you mean an extension?  If so, TC does not, and I don't know about Uncle Mike's.  I'd advise you to stay away from hammer spur extensions on Encores - they often lead to misfires since they affect the speed of the hammer strike, and can even lead to fractured or broken hammer.  As I understand it, TC recommends against their use.  Their answer to the problem is the Pro Hunter Swing Hammer which allows the hammer to be swung out to either side for better grip with low clearance scopes.  I think you can get the swing hammer retrofit into any Encore for less than $100.

Hope this helps.

I have had a hammer extension on my TC Encore for years and have shot it with all of my barrels with no problems. just google "encore hammer extension" and you should get several options.

They are available, but not sure what brands.  You want to make sure to use an aluminum one.  The steal ones have caused hammer breakage in the past.
