People have suggested to me that Methane from Cowfarts is contributing to Global warming, although for every cow/calf/steer/heifer/bull/whatever we raise seems to be matched by coyotes, deer, bobcats, foxes, and a plethora of other farting things.
One of the decisions I must make is what to do with ranch land homesteaded ~120 years ago. So I'm planning around HOW the land will change. And you won't believe how fastidious these old Germans have taken records. Hottest day, Wettest day, Longest time without rain (this year was longer than the dust bowl!), number of tornados, Hailstorms, etc. From my ancestors, so I know darn well it is true data for our land.
Given a steep rise in land taxes, (now up to 45% of the per acre outright purchase value paid annually) we stand to profit AT MOST $80 per acre after taxes, and little or no profit this year. After downsizing the herd (high feed prices are inevitable from the drought) it will be a few years before we will be back up to enough cowfarts per acre to warm the planet or make a profit.
Cabelas keeps buying up all of the good hunting land, and they roll up to the front gate now and then wanting to buy us too. I can do without their peoplefarts for now.
