Woman to watch daughter's killer die in South Dakota Published October 30, 2012

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Becky O'Connell left her South Dakota home on a simple errand: to go to the store for sugar so she could make lemonade.
When the 9-year-old didn't return that day in 1990, panic gripped Sioux Falls. Parents kept their children indoors until the mystery could be solved.
And within hours, it was -- with a gruesome outcome: Becky had been kidnapped, raped and stabbed to death.
Becky's killer, 60-year-old Donald Moeller, is set to die Tuesday night by lethal injection in South Dakota.

Her mother, Tina Curl, has been steadfast in her wish to watch him die, raising money so she could make the 1,400-mile trip from her home in New York.
She says Moeller watched her daughter take her last breath, and she wants to watch him take his.

He's finally dead, 22 years after he murdered the 9 yr old girl. I hope the mother can now rest after seeing him live 22 years longer than her daughter. Good riddance. POWDERMAN.

BTW. Did you know that in some Muslim countries, relatives of a murder victim get to chop off the head of the perp. ?? Very fitting.!

I've always said that the perp should die the same way his victim did.

In college I got into a classroom debate with a liberal professor, during which I suggested that the best way to deter violent crime might be to turn the perpetrator over the the surviving family members of the deceased victim to do with as they see fit.

As you might imagine, my suggestion was not well received by the liberal professor.

I think the family of the victim should get to decide the fate of the perp in cases like this.

My preference for this guy would be to chain him up standing at 100 yards downrange then proceed to take him out slowly and painfully with a .22 LR. Some CCI .22 CB Shorts would do it rather slowly at 100 yards.

letting the family of the deceased decide the perps fate is a great idea.
I wonder if a liberal family would remain liberal in this situation?

Letting her watch the killer get executed- absolutely. Letting her conduct the execution - absolutely not. That's what corrections officials are paid to do. That would get a little too biased IMO. In my experiences with the death penalty, most of the victims immediate family are fine with the closure that justice has been dealt- by the proper officials.

I love the Ocean and I think as a general principle being buried in sand up to the shoulders at low tide would wash the filth away. Retrieval of the body is unnecessary as marine life will take care of that.

I actually wish we would go back to the Electric Chair here in Indiana.. Far less expensive than Lethal Injection and less people involved. To me, there is something far more intimidating knowing that you are going to be put in a electric chair vs. laid on a table and put to sleep. The most cost effective would be a firing squad.

I tend to agree , if govt. does not conduct the trial and punishment then it loses authority in such matters . I doubt the mother will ever feel she got even , even if she skinned the guy alive and rolled in salt . Nothing could replace one of my children.

Different points of view I guess......I personally see nothing wrong with government loosing some of it's "authority". It has too damn much "authority' as it is!

SHOOTALL. Highly unacceptable. I read that it costs a min of $60,000 a year not counting med expenses a year to house these scum. Thats well over a $ million for this guy in 22 yrs not counting atty fees, etc. THat would have fed a lot of homeless. POWDERMAN.
