Anybody heard fron Rdfx?
« on: October 30, 2012, 06:13:41 PM »
I talked with Gary Jepson up in Killdeer ND yesterday he said the ground was frozen and they had 2 inches of snow still.I was wondering if Lee run into this.No snow or frozen ground done here in SD.I predict a short open water season though. We've had skim ice a time or 3 and the local ducks have left. There are some divers and mallards around in good size bunches and the snow geese are starting to show up.Had a front come through with 11 drops of rain this afternoon.Fur critters were out early this afternoon traveling and hunting.Bill
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!

We've had some skim ice over night but nothing that last the day. Not far out now though I think.

Well first three days , ground froze solid and  what water was there in the super dry  ND country was also froze.  I chipped in  yote sets and set  dps    for coon.   Coon didnt move till warmer weather two days down road and  water opened up with wind breaking ice and set bvr and  rat sets.   With the no going off road because of high fire conditions i was really held back.  Also millions of pheasant hunters but didnt run into any problems.... Got some beautiful yotes, super big coons, ND mink are bigger than WI mink.... the females  look like WI male mink... rats are small but rats .  No  skunks but saw some huge dead skunks near Scranton ND.   I would say they are twice the size of WI  skunks... Lots of miles and gas but  the ND wind kept our spirits up and   hoods on coats up....

Sounds like the trip was good even if you didn't catch all you wanted. As I've gotten older it seems now it's more about the trip than the fur numbers for me. Glad you had a good time.
