early CVA optima
« on: October 31, 2012, 09:35:28 AM »
I have a  chance  to buy a 50 cal. optima, it is one of the earlier made ones, non fluted barrel, before they had the QRBP. Any opinions on these?? Any one know when these were made?  Should I look to buy a later made model?? Thanks in Advance. :)

I have the Optima 209 that I bought about 10 or 11 years ago.  I guess that is the gun you are referring to.  I have had no problems with it and it is very accurate.  I have not thought about replacing it until recently when I thought about a new 35 Whelen but cancelled that idea.  I believe you will like the Optima 209.

I would have to recommend the newer Optima and would pass on the older one.  Cabela's has an SS/Blk newer Optima with scope mounts for $220.

I have one of the early Optima Pro and it feels like it weighs 10 lbs. The new ones are just under 7lbs. I got to admit that it shoots straight though.
Do you speak German? Well I don't speak Spanish so maybe you'd better learn English.
