got a new barrel in 357 rem max. the twist is 1-10 with 358 dia bore.. will a 1-10 twist stabilize a 180 gr bullet?? got 180 hor ssp, speer 180 hcfn.. what about  357 dia  horn180 xtp??? got 358 dia 200gr FTX  will a 1-10 work with any of these bullets?? got a few powders to try. need to find 1680!!  going to try win 296 and h4227 first...  thanks fore the help WORM

It should. Wheather your gun will like that bullet is another question, but if that`s what you want to shoot give them a try. My 357 max. had a 357 bore and did not like any of the 358 dia. bullets I tried in it, but shoots the 180 357 dia. bullets very well.

1:10 seems awful fast.  My .357 mags all have 1:16 barrels and have no trouble with 180s at lower velocities.  No reason to think that a 1:10 at higher velocity would have any trouble whatsoever.

Lil'Gun is another powder that has a good reputatuion with the 180 grain SSP's. I'll be using that combo for deer this season.

no reason to think that a 1-10 at higher velocity  would have any trouble whatsoever.. what powder can give the  high vel?? win 296, Lil'gun, 1680?? going to try the xtp first. most shots is 75 yards and less..  thanks WORM

Gate   Peanut here, i've got a bergara barrel from m. b. tcs 1/14 twist shoots 1/2" and better at 100yds. 1" groups at 200yds. He puts his chamber(longer throat) in the barrels. I can seat the hornady #3505 180gr. SSp bullet and the 180gr #35771 out farther than normal max. barrels. Use AA-1680 thats the goto powder its not temperture sensitive, remington 7 1/2 SRBR primers, wow its a shooter. Peanut

going to find 1680. every body says it is the powder to use in 357 max and a few more.. mine is a mgm barrel.. how can you tell if it has a long throat??  thanks WORM

Gate  I use Frankford Arsenal cartridge overall length guage ,then hornadys bullet comparator for .35 calibur to check c.o.l. off the ogive of the bullet. For the hdy. 180gr. SSP #3505 i seat my bullet out to 2.360" col thencheck with the comparator off ogive at 1.852". hdy. 180gr. XTP #35771 c.o.l.2.145", ogive 1.936". Or you can make up a dummy round seat the bullet out a a little bit , then put the dummy round in chamber close up action an d then it seat its sellf to the rifleings. sometimes i put the bullet in dummy case backwards to see where it touchs rifleings. to see what my case overall is . go to bellms site and read up on the .357 max.

mine col is 2.188.. will not close with it at 2.360...  thats with a 180 horn ssp  thanks WORM
